RD 8 VS Gold Coast

Postby Gingernuts » Mon May 09, 2011 1:24 pm

So, the saying goes that the day is darkest just before the dawn. Let's hope this rings true this week!

Fair to say if ever you would want a home clash against GC it would be after a near 100 point flogging in Melbourne.

Changes this week - IMO Vince showed enough for WWT on the weekend to get the call up this week. That's the main one I reckon and you could raffle who gets dropped for him (Wright might be forced out anyway with a knee strain).

I don't think there is any need to swing the axe after yesterdays performance. If anything I think the same squad should be backed in to respond this week.

I think we will win and win well this week. Mainly due to K Tippett being back in form. I really don't think GC has a match up for him. I think he'll kick 6 - 8 goals and we will win by about 50 points.

Tippett did look good yesterday and was truly "clunking" his marks. Definitely missed a bit of class in the mdfield so vince would be a welcome inclusion. Outside of that I am not sure who else can come in but I think our back 6 is looking a little undersized at the moment and needs to bolstered somehow until davis, otten, stevens etc... are available again.

You would hope to have a big response this week. If we play like we did against the saints then we will win easily.

Hopefully S Thompson is ok, Vince needs to come back in as we were smashed in the midfield.

I agree, dont need to swing the axe just yet. You would hope our 3 talls will be 2 much for the GC to handle, in saying that we have to get the ball down there!

Tambling will come back in you would think possibly for Schmidt.

Sellar might have to come in to play CHB (might be worth a run saturday as we might need to play him against Collingwood the week after. Dawes, Brown, Cloke)

Surely its time for Henderson to go. Has been very disappointing this season and needs to go back to Centrals for some form. Possibly bring Gunston in.

Yep, I thought he should've been dropped ahead of Martin last week personally.

Real Danger game this week........................................................................for Gold Coast.

Henderson, Schmidt out.

Really average performance from Douglas on Sun, yet he got in the best players???? I'd be giving him the Vince treatment soon.

Yep from being very good against the Saints, he was complete rubbish yesterday (with plenty of mates).
No need to drop him though, just a boot up the backside to fire him up.
Henderson on the other hand has been fairly useless all season and needs a spell.

Regardless of injuries, Vince must come back into the side.

Whispers Walker may be dropped??

I think he should stay in the team. There has been a couple of situations where he has chosen to bump instead of tackle, but if poor decision making was a reason to drop someone then most of the side would be on the chopping block!

He seemed to work hard up the ground last week trying to create something, but ultimately was starved of opportunity.

I firmly believe the main problem with the team at the moment is the midfield - they need to win more hard ball at the stoppages basically. If they can get on top there the backline is under much less pressure, and the forward line gets more opportunities, a win win.

I would like to see Henderson dropped, needs to find some form. Schmidt & Petrenko would both be very unlucky - barely a chance to prove themselves last week.

I would give Petrenko another run (up forward this time) at Henderson's expense. Need someone at Tippett's toes and also giving forward takling pressure, just coming out too easily at the moment.

So -

IN: Tambling, Vince

OUT: Wright (inj), Henderson (omit).

not good news on vince at all. Injuries starting to take their toll on the group. change of fortune should be just around the corner.

Just saw that, means Hendo probably survives

Schmidt will be dropped for Tambling

Wright is ok to play and Petrenko will stay as sub

Love the optimism cripple.

In all seriousness though despite the injuries I think the core of the squad is still there, just down on form.

Losing Davis in a key position hurts, and Stevens as a second experienced tall in defence is hurting as well.

Otherwise forwards and mids are relatively intact.

Just need a good confidence boosting win against GC Saturday, preferably a big one. :D

We need Thompson and Dangerfield to play, without them we will get killed at the stoppages again!

Sellar might get a game at CHB and Tambling will come in.

Don't think we will make to many more changes now Vince is injured!

Gunston and Tambling are good ins.
Walker and Symes terrible outs.
Petrenko had to go, agreed, but Schmidt has proven time and time again he is dead-set hopeless.
Would have been a great opportunity for Walker to kick a bag on some spuddy GC defender (Hunt) and run into form.
Symes is a proven ball getter and I thought he has been far from our worst recently.
Seriously, the Crows selectors need to be asked "WTF is going on?"
