Did a hammy at training the week before the first game, played round 2 in the A's then did the other hammy at training the next week. So not much to report on yet - hopefully back soon.

not good to hear, huge hearted player.

Spot on, its a big task against the in form reigning premiers but the 1977 Premiership side started the season 0-4, so its been done before.

first clearance has been cancelled, new one requested and approved today. If the dates are right then i think it means he cant play as it needs to be done by 9pm thursday.

Seemed a bit sus at the time as Massie was cleared on the Friday (though the sportingpulse site cant be read as gospel), but I heard a little whisper that there may be an investigation into the above - why Massie was allowed to play when other clubs have been denied if they missed the 9pm deadline.

Rules are rules and they should stand for everyone - anyone else heard of this?

5 weeks into the season and there have been some very interesting results.
It certainly seems that the gap between 1st and last has closed significantly which is great for the comp.
I originally tipped a L.Creek/Victor GF but my new tip is now Creek /Strath GF which would be a 1st for these 2 neighboring rivals since the Creek joined the GSFL in 1978.
Geez, the Creek ground is bursting at the seems in minor round games between these 2 clubs let alone a Grand Final.
A long way off happening yet but it's hard too see how they'd fit in all the spectators at the Creek.

The difference in 1st and 10th is now massively different. Looking at us as an example, our average losing margins v Yank, Creek and Strath last year combined was 135 points. This year it is 23 points. I reckon you could show a similar improvement if you looked at Bays, Pongy and McLarens stats as well.

Hard to pick a GSFL GF at this stage. I think it will come down to injuries and depth, which makes me lean towards Willunga. If you check their B Grade results, they are winning easily and have quality to fall back on. Strath at full tilt are still a great side and were very good yesterday, but from what I saw they could not afford injuries in the A's. I was shocked and amazed when their B's rolled in with 13 or 14 players, topped up the rest with senior colts and got smacked up by a team, that didnt win a game last year. Thats never happened in my time as a player and could be one of the little differences in such a tight year.

If the mudlarks can scrape together say 6-8 wins for the season, then give Tom Carrol the mail medal now, this lad is in absolute unbelievable form and will be the recruit of the season.

Why i have seen it once before from a team that only won one game but it would be hard to win the medal from a team that dont win to many games..

Dave Whitbourne (Port Elliot) won in 98 - they won 1 game for the year beating Goolwa in round 18 (also won 1 for the year).

Agree LF - pretty hard to say yet as there have been some quite unpredictable results involving sides right across the board. Most likely to come from LC, ST, WI or YA as they are the sides getting more wins at this stage, but I wouldn't discount just about any of the sides just yet. Of course they have to get enough wins on the board to make the finals first.

I had a quick look at Yank's playing list on Sporting Pulse for the game yesterday and didn't see Borlace listed. Presumably its too hard for them now to juggle their playing roster to fit him in with the points he brings. Or perhaps he may just plays a few games here and there and possibly play finals if there are injuries.

Given his injuries and Norwood commitments, he was only ever going to play a few, who knows now. They cant play them all though, had to play a colt to get them down to 13pts on the weekend without R Plant or Borlace.

I don't think people have appreciated how big a win that was for Goolwa-Port Elliot in the 2's on Saturday.. The Magpies wouldn't have got within 15 goals of Strath in the last 5 years. Good to see them on the improve!

Certainly is a big turn around. A quick scan shows 12 of Goolwa's B grade played some A Grade last year, plus 4 new from other leagues, whereas 6 of Straths team are elligible for colts. Huge loss of players for the team that played in the GF last year!???
