Why?

26/27 March held the grade cricket GF, 2-3 April held the Rugby 7s and 8 April held SANFL footy. The oval can be turned around quick enough to accomodate, what other problem can you envisage?

umm, during football season there will be an AFL game on every weekend there during winter.

can the ground be turned around in 1-2 days considering the length of grass needs to be different for the different sports.

would love to see the rule that dictates the length of grass for each sport and then the umpires going out and measuring it. I know you mean that different sports have an optimum length for their pitch coverage (e.g., rugby being more lush and cricket as short as possible) but to suggest a stadium would miss out on an event because of the length of the grass seems ludicris in the extreme.

Same here and i have voted against it.

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

I'm sure a day or two is sufficient to cut the grass, with the following 5-6 days enough for it to grow again.

Just asking questions,

My point is more are they going to be able to have 2 different sporting codes us AO on the same weekend as in winter the AFL will have use of AO every weekend.

I am supporting it, i will keep my membership, i will still attend AO for all the supporting events that i currently do. and ill still continue to spend lots of money over their bars.

Just because the vote got through doesnt mean i dont have any more questions, thoughts, worries etc etc.

Length of grass plays a massive impact on national/international sporting events coming to venues.

Shortly the FIFA WC Policy of fully seated stadia will change to include International Friendlys, which immediately rules out Adelaide Oval, and inturn Adelaide of ever getting the fully fledged Socceroos here again

Cue the Soccer haters, but if that happens it sucks.

Also, I can't see the "hill" lasting too long. Will be just a congregating place for piss dickheads to stand and cause trouble. There will be a incident/s and the hill will go the way of Bay 13 etc...

Why? Fully seated is possible at AO under the redevelopment. Fully enclosed is a different matter, but FIFA don't require that.

So what to quote "world class" events can Adelaide attract with a stadium that looks like a dunny seat and is used every weekend for six months of the year??

People are shouting that we are moving forward  ;)

Do we get that included for our $500 million or is it an optional extra?

Is it not just a case of roping off the hill and not allowing any standing for the international soccer games? Will still have a bigger capacity to what it is now and there is a game due there in June. Does the MCG have standing only areas? This will inturn rule the MCG out aswell - would think not, they will just not allow standing.

Pretty sure they only use them on GF day.

At least if they block the area off it'll give a nice view of the scoreboard

Beautiful Fig trees and Heritage scoreboard - what the SACA members want and it will be a much better advert for Adelaide than what is there at the moment, some continuity in the architecture and modern facilities.

Can someone enlighten me as to how the new members stand was built/given the go ahead by the members? Was there a member vote? was there, or, is there still some disgruntled members that it was upgraded?

So it will just look like the members section for any day of a Test match that doesn't involve England! Go look back at photos or footage of recent years Test matches and see how completely bare it is behind the bowlers arm in front of the Bradman Stand and tell me that is a good advertisement for Adelaide!

Yes, I have serious concerns with all capital expenditure with Government Projects. Desal plant already a disaster cost wise and not something essential IMO, RAH cost spiralling out of control heck even the new Swimming pool doubled its initial costings

YOU HEATER (and others), are our states problem, SICK of it, take a second and read what you just wrote!!!!!
NO voters should cop the blame if this dies like so many other positive projects do in this state. What is wrong with our new swimming pool you id.........iot!!!!!, what is wrong with the tram line! etc etc etc. move with the times and accept progress and change otherwise we (SA) will die much quicker than we already are. OPEN your eyes.
Yes i've had a few beers but for F**kSake!!

Typical of today's Generation Y, I WANT, I WANT IT NOW!!! All well and good to want these things but you must be able to pay for them in the first place. We have already been committed to a a Desal plant that has been rushed, New Hospital that according to media reports is going to cost much more than anticipated, a new Superway which the design team can't keep in front of the construction team wasting more money.

Who pays for all this? Its me and you for the next 30 years in the mean time our government sells off assets left right and centre. For example Labor are prepared to sell off the Forestry Harvest rights for the next 100 years placing a massive cloud over The Green Triangle employment options yet it is people like you AFLFlyer can't see past the toll gate that there is more to South Australia than just Adelaide.

Great post Heater. (expect for the Gen Y stereotyping ;) )

I don't think we should change what we want to do with our stadium just because a corrupt organisation say they only want full seating or they wont be playing their snoozer of a sport there.
