Bays have a night game at Noarlunga in June. Won't be a huge crowd for that one.

Atleast you can sit in the car down there.

But it's still good programming by South as the crowd will be bigger than the one they might've got in the day, whatever the weather.

And fair enough, however most of the suburban grounds, have been in operation since the early 1900's and thus would've been there long before any current resident.

Hell how would have the locals faired back in the 60/70/80's when you'd get 10 - 15 k people rock up every second weekend....

If you move next to a Football Club or in the vicinity, then you put up with the general football club noise/behaviour issues etc otherwise S.T.F.U and move.....

You both make valid points here IMO, though I guess if you moved in next to a suburban ground back in the 8k average crowd days you'd move in with that in mind. The area would have grown around large and / or increasing crowds over the decades.

To be fair to the modern resident, Norwood and Thebarton aside, just how the residents in the old days would have reacted to a hypothetical change to suburban night footy around town is a matter of conjecture. Many of us remember the times immediately preceding lighting at West Lakes. Mixed issues I realise.

sit in the car, heater going

radio on, either listening to broadcast of that game or to get updates of afl games going on.

south should make it $20 per car and BYO

Special Notice to Members - Oval Lights Update

It is with a great deal of frustration that we must inform you that despite a resounding vote by Council earlier this week in favour of our lighting project there have been appeals lodged (with the Environment, Resources and Development Court) against the Development Assessment Panel's decision which granted consent for the project on 27 January.

These appeals appear to be have been deliberately lodged at the very last minute thus losing us at least two weeks of valuable planning and construction time. This means that we cannot proceed to the next stage until the ERD Court has made it's decision.

Our Club has done everything asked of it (and plenty more) with respect to this project for which the broader community of Holdfast Bay clearly wants - as demonstrated through the Council's own community consultation process which included a comprehensive social impact study.

We will push-on regardless to deliver what will be a fantastic project for our members, supporters and community at large. Thank you for sticking with us!

(Note: For clarification, this process now rests with the ERD Court i.e. independent of Council).

A small minority of residents and one council member. A#$$holes, vote went 8-3 in favour of lights and one of the sooks on the council lodged a last minute appeal. Time to vote him off.

Once again the minorities rule

Imagine the difficulties and frustrations Sturt have ,this will go through just a minor hiccup. Sturt seem to have to jump through hoops on a constant basis just to play at Unley , I think last year they were rejected an enclosed box in the stand . Worry about winning finals Bay fans as night footy will happen and be terrific down there.

Bet the Snouts would love to buy them a beer and hear their side of the story (not)

Pfft they obviously have turned off their hearing aids to the fact there will be less light overflow into their back yards, and only focussed upon too many cars being parked in front of their driveway for their bridge party guests

Jerks! Self centred twits

Hows that for an answer?
