Flipper, how did the CBCOC boys respond to Geordi Haklar playing against his team when he lined up for Flinders on the weekend. I heard he was pretty average from a mate of mine but didnt get to see the game myself.

He did next to nothing FP may as well have played a man down. He wasnt much of a club man had to chase for subs never back at pub for presentations, trained and played when he felt like it. The boys didnt respond well. Probably good thing he couldnt be found on satdiy.

Apparently he was on some $$ there but moved back to FP for $250 a game. I thought it was quite funny considering he should barely be playing at the level. Couldnt believe CBCOC kept persisting with him last year

Paying him $250......... i heard he was going round saying he was on $ at CBC. I think he thought it would b a strategy so he could get something from another club. We do not pay players. He left because he needed $ he said. I also heard he went to another club in this div demanding $ and sayin he is on $ @ CBC.

This week will be a great test for us and try to string 2 wins together. GG cant be taken lightly as some of the results show that they can stay with the better sides when some pretty much wrote them off early on.

The following week will be the one that will set up the rest of the season. No love lost there. Should be an absolute belter. One week at a time though. Rest assured the day will bring out the best and most probably the worst in some others come round 6 at home.....MMMMM really looking forward to that one. ;)

I know a few people involved with FP i have a mutual respect for the club but as soon as a clubs intentions of spending $ become common knowledge the leeches come out of the wood work. If all they looking for is a easy buck, how will they go finding the hard ball when they have their backs against the wall.

Was probably expecting CBC to offer him some $. Called his bluff.

Happens every year mate to almost every club. These blokes come unstuck in the end. Look at M Cox. Clubs just need to be a bit more savvy about it i spose.

Fair post. Sticking true to the values of the club will get you further then having better players come for the $$

im not to sure about the player payment sittuation at mitcham but they seem to have a good handle on it, seems like the players are there because of mates or played junior footy there or something along those lines and if they do pay players (which im sure there would be a few players getting incentives) keep it low key and doesnt put peoples nose out of joint and it doesnt attract the leaches as said above, the main possitive of it is builds long term success, anyone with money can buy 1 premiership but we see it all to often a club has money buys the flag and are unable to provide the same funding the following year and the leaches take off,

i Think any team that says they dont pay players in some way, shape or form are talking out there A**
the delema clubs face is getting the right guys to give incentives to

Geordi's played a couple of real good games this year, and a couple of average ones....can burn the ball a bit amittedly but his pace is something Flinders need. Also to suggest he is on $250 a game is a rediculous call.

Unfortunately its not just a case of "selecting" the right recruits for the right money its more so the case of having to pay players that have been loyal to your club just to keep them. Too often a club can develop a player from juniors thru to seniors only to have a cashed up club knocking on the door with a fist full of dollars. Seen it all to often these days, take Shane Hanson for example. Quite happy to play for his club until an offer of reportedly $1200 a game was made. That sort of money loyalty soon goes out the door. The only positive is that when the money dries up or the novelty wears off he will return to his home club (I hope).

Beating FP showed that we can mix it in this division if we play to the best of our ability but that has been few and far between so far this year sadly. Will probably see a few changes this week to try and get some guys into form and start getting a few ticks in the 'W' column before it's too late.... Need a few lads to start stepping up now and realise that some of the stuff that you can get away with in Div 5 and Div 4 just aint gonna cut it in Div 3. But the young fella will keep chipping away and keep running hard.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

think u taken what i have said a lil out of context. We dont make agreements (playing contracts/written or verbal) with players, to give them a cash incentive, service or any goods, neither do we have a base payment just for playing. We do have incentives for best players. I also take the bins out for one of the boys when he is away. We could argue what constitutes a payment for pages. But i will stand by what i said we dont pay players.

I dont care if other clubs do (pay) and dont think anything less of them, just the individuals it attracts. One day i think (hope) CBC will but in a very conservative manner. Unfortunately clubs need to so they can attract a high calibre player.

Just home from the football club and did some reading tonight while there. What a crock of sh*t. 'The super star Jarrod Wareing returned last week and the brilliant Tom Lipson returns this week for the Thunder.' Surely are not the same two guys who I have seen play before. Admittedly it is a few years since they were both at North Haven together, when I saw them last, but no one improves that much. Do they have photos of whoever wrote that crap.
