I cant do anything about it now and as I said Ill try to support it and hope like hell it works out OK, still cant help but think this is a rushed job and we will cause issues for cricket and the state in the long term future

I wonder whether the so called leak of the balance of proxies before the vote tonight was designed to flush more yes voters out? :-k

It's the Labor way ... plus there'll be kickbacks to the building industry.

Does anyone know whether the new stands will have pink batts or solar panels? :-??

Dutchy, I can't believe you've missed the biggest story to come out of this ... the possibility of sheffield shield matches at the Bay ... hooray

Highlight of the night was Darren Berry's response to the no vote lobbyist who asked tried to tell him to vote against the proposal.

No, Family First and the Greens support is enough and both have indicated their support.

Hopefully not.
I reckon there is enough members to make enough noise to ensure this doesnt happen.
I attend a fair bit of shield cricket but will never go to the bay.

Wow. 80% yes vote. Never thought it would be that high. Somehow I feel that won't be enough to convince people that the redevelopment, which will now include the River Torrens, is a good thing. Let the politics begin.

Just heard Howe on the radio. Hats off to him, he has accepted the 'YES' Vote, he said he will continiue to be s SACA member and accept the majorities decision. Well done to Ecky who said similar, would be good if Dutchy could show similar optimism.
As for Heater, he needs to act is age ;) :D

I accept the outcome also, however i hope we dont have to come back to this thread in years to come and say 'I told you so' 'knew we couldnt trust those dodgy bastards' 'Typical AFL bullying other sporting codes' etc :

So now the vote has been finalised lets get this thing constructed

I think it is brilliant that Adelaide Oval will remain the heart and soul of South Australian sport. I have up on my lounge room wall the Greg Blewett Maiden Ton print which shows Adelaide Oval when it was at its picturesque peak (IMO). Since then there have been spectator comfort improvements with the Chappell Stands and seats around the fence and then more recently the Western Stand which has already well and truly changed the look and feel of Adelaide Oval from what it once was.

By the time this redevelopment has been completed it will not be the same. Watching Sheffield Shield matches on the hill on dollar day will be nothing but a memory, but when we take our children and grandchildren along we will still get that special feeling as we walk down Montefiore Hill of a place where we've seen the best of the best at battle - Lara vs Warne, Bodyline, all of the West Torrens Football Club premiership wins!

This redevelopment will allow elite sport to be played at Adelaide Oval well into the future. Yes, there will be more change in the future. Change is inevitable. But I'm glad Adelaide Oval will be the place where it all happens for generations to come.
