Round 6 - Sturt v Centrals @ Unley - 2.10pm Sat 7/5/11

Postby GWW » Sun May 01, 2011 8:25 pm

Sturt has shown they can play good footy at home, however they come up against the premiership favourites this week, fresh from their demolition of the Bays in round 5.

The Double Blues will need another big game from Duldig to be any chance, however the Bulldogs are likely to have too much experience and options up forward.

My tip: Centrals by 37 points

I'm sure you'll field the appropriate 21 no worries lads, altho the injuries sustained today will be tough to replace and I am glad sturt will not have to face a full strength team, might give us a chance lol.

James Plant and Pat Fittock were injured early on Saturday for Sturt and didn't take any further part in the game after about the 12 minute mark of the first term.

Not sure of the severity of their injuries, but might be a cloud on those 2 blokes as well I'd suspect?

From a Central perspective, anyone of Ash Duncan, Caleb Edmead, Jacob Templeton, Chris Musolino, Charlie Molyneux, Jay Nash (if over injury from 2 weeks ago), Alan Obst (if passed fit from broken jaw) or even a smokey in 16 year old Travis Schiller (brother of Jarrod) who is a small nippy rover, similar to Boyd.

We could even rush Chad back into the side, based on his performance today.

Roy Laird said they will not rush Chad back into the league side, despite the injuries, he'll have another couple of runs in the 2's.

Played a good game in the magoo's yesterday, took a couple of BIG marks for a small player in the last quarter.

Dogs very hot at the moment. Massacred the Bays with only 17 fit men and their best still to be realised.
Sturt have only rarely been able to string two wins together since 2009, and their worst perhaps rates with, or lower than, what the Bays dished up today.
I'll be following keenly, but cannot rate us a chance for this one.
Dogs to do as they please, someone please mop up the mess when you leave.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I'm actually a little worried about this game. Not a venue we've found anjoyable lately, although Sturt are perhaps a notch or two lower than they have been. But with so many emotional victories comes a let down the week after. No doubt our depth will be tested, but hopefully we welcome an addition of two to relieve the pressure.

I still think Central will win, some of the lads are in rare form and across the board should have too much class. But I think a 3-4 goal margin is a bit more likely than the blowout the form lines might suggest.
