Fantastic effort from Sturt today, particularly considering they were down to just 1 man on the bench from the 12 minute mark of the 1st quarter as mentoined in Jai's article above.

Pretty good guess there whufc, not far off...

Crowd - 1733 at Commander Centre Oval

I'd suggest Sturt would be disappointed with that figure, even taking into consideration the TV and rain element...

In a few years you'll be talking up a crowd of 1700 as a great step forward for the Dogs.

If Norwood played all day games at home, their crowd average would almost be on par with the Dogs.

Provided we keep winning premierships i dont care if there is only 2 people there, ill be one of them.

Just finished watching it. Some great delivery to Duldig, who did what a FF should and nailed his chances. Pearce got a ton of footy, but his disposal is terrible. I agree with Cambridge Clarrie in that Reilly was best for Sturt.

Gilly had a massive game. Would be close to the best mark in the comp. Old man White played his best game for North. Delvins was good also. Ryswyk had a shocker.

Second week in a row that North have hung in all day, but not taken the chances presented.

Mmmmmm......I don't think its the coaches, maybe your medical staff can check if your players have any hearts.

Could be worse, we could do a Port Adelaide and blame everyone else in the world! ;)

Seriously though, nothing wrong with the coach now, good style of footy, just players letting down but having said that its the worst side we've had on paper since 2003.
Im enjoying what Im seeing a lot more than the last 2 years of crap of Healey and we have a coach that doesn't do some of the things Jarman used to so Im happy in that respect too.

1-4 with the Bays away next week.

Worse part for the Rooster imho is Allan is absolutly dominating, Alleway is going alright and Gill has stayed on the park. Most considered North to be a decent side if these 4 could play well, their holding their end of the bargain up.

Whats going wrong North.

Port are blaming our coach for their current mess. They blame anyone and anything except for themselves.

I can't fault Norths guys effort at the moment from the 3 games I have been able to get to .I thought the Westies,Eagles and Sturt game games were all pretty much the same kind of game.Even though at no stage of during each of these games I thought we had a win in the bank, the closeness of the scoreoard kept the game interesting and entertaining .21 guys playing with belief and attitude can close an obvious talent gap between any sides.

If our effort drops off from our level at the moment we could be easliy caned by 10-15 goals by some sides in the league I reckon, due to some inexperience and smaller bodies in some areas. We may pinch one against a top 3 side during the year also if someone takes us too lightly on a given day.I don't think we have the side to get anywhere near the finals sadly.

Despite seeing 3 losses, Saturday arvo at the footy has returned as a great entertainment option with the way the games are being played at the moment .Although a statement like thats risks "you accept losing " comments , after the tripe ( tempted to say porridge) we were served for '09 and half of '10 (before I gave up and spent my time doing something remotely enjoyable) it's just great to be at the footy even if walking out disappointed, but at it's not disillusioned.

i thoroughly enjoyed the match that had everything, it even had a north player jump the fence to grab a hot dog around the half forward area & in the after match interview michael maney standing on a crate so there wasn't much difference in height of the two commentators :D (mark soderstrom the other), i wonder whether just for wedgie sturt would clear duldig to glenelg for one match & be cleared back the week after  ....it basically game down to duldig v alleway one kicked straight & the other didn't

Seems an extraordinary stat in the context of the game. If a player had 16 more possessions than his direct opponent he would be BOG by a street. Maybe they gave themselves 3 votes!

I made it 24-9 North's way, Sturt had six frees after quarter time.

Excellent and exciting game of footy. Sure there were plenty of turnovers, but when a team is down to 19 men for almost three quarters and has 400 possessions, there's going to be a degree of tiredness eventually. Which makes Sturt's win all the more courageous. Unfortunately for Sturt (not yesterday but in the longer term), Aiden Riley was outstanding, and I'm sure the next long-term Crows injury will see him snatched away. Great performance from Matt Duldig and he'll get fitter as the season progresses.

I hope North don't get too despondent after their fourth loss by 15 points or less as I love the way they go about their footy under Francou; it's just a pity they butcher so many shots on goal after so much good work to get there. I guess the only team to really outplay them so far has been South where the final margin apparently flattered the Roosters.

I also (optimistically) don't subscribe to the theory that it was just a match between bottom four contenders. Sturt will be well in it against Centrals next week, while North are a great chance of knocking off the Redlegs.
