Round 6 - Teams, Trades & Discussion

Postby Q. » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:23 am

Quick turnaround this week. Another partial lockout tomorrow night, followed by full lockout Friday night. This will be the third partial lockout so if I see another person ask 'how do I do the loophole' I'm going to scratch my eyes out

We are starting to get into serious trade territory and with Rioli set to miss games, Yarran in doubt and our cash cows looking juicy, the move you make next could be make or break!

Yarran's break even is 100 and he has a bye in round 8 so if he misses this week then his price stays around the same until round 9 so I may trade Yarran now if he misses.

I feel inclined to ride it out with Krakouer. I feel some people are trading him out almost on principle but others are forced into it to cover a donut. I feel Krak will be back sooner rather than later.

Jack Darling at $216K could be a good option for Krakouer.

Trading times become rather important now, but is it just me or are there not many people to downgrade to? Its a bit of a gamble to downgrade to someone at the moment, with defenders being Luke Thompson, pederson, hibberd the best options who are all not secure in their job.

Not sure if il make any trades this week. May keep them til the week after. Hopefully krakeour can return soon and jump another one or two lots in price

That's my take as well. Would love to free up some cash but there's no obvious downgrades around that I can see. Think I might sit tight again this week.

Will Prestia play this week?

I have to cover Fyfe, Buddy and Stevie J so will be playing Tapscott, darling and Matera

Next week when Collingwood have the bye im thinking of Trading Pendles out for 1 week for a quality MID with a low breakeven. Then the week after bring him back with additional cash in the bank and only 2 trades used. I also have swann so cant afford to have both those headliners out but the majority of teams will have swann

No offence, but that's the worst use of two trades you could possibly do.

Well, I havent used any trades to date and cant afford to drop the first game after dropping 2 games after the other people scored freakish scores against me.

It ensures i have a top line Midfielder for pendles and can cover Swann (which my opponant will prob have) with a bench player and should make me money if i get the selected player right.

There is no risk in the trades and in the end its only 2 trades. Could be the difference between winning and loosing

Before you do anything, assess your opponent's team and decide whether you can beat them without doing the trades.

Most certainly will, also i need to choose the right player. Someone with a good average, low break even score and assess what team they are playing.

Totally agree with Q. Bad use of two trades for little gain. Not sure your idea that it's 'only two trades' is wise. They are valuable and should not be wasted. But that is what makes the game interesting, am sure you won't be the only one with Swan and Pendles who does this, lots of different ways to approach things.

You'd be crazy to trade this week, let your cash cows go up some more then trade. 1 round won't make the difference, plus you'd only want to trade for big injuries, and at the moment Rioli is the only bad injury I can think of and it isnt that bad. Save the trades for later in the year US, you'll need them ;)

Walker wouldnt be that bad a option if he actually was any good....

He is not the first player picked on pre-season form and wont be the last. I have been burnt by many going off pre-season form, I mean Broughton showed plenty in the pre-season and look at him now.

Walker - But he's not any good so he is a bad option
Broughton - His numbers aren't that bad just a little down on his normal output. He's dropped nine points a game hardly a hanging offence. With a couple of weeks off with hopefully Silvangi to return soon he'll be back to being that attacking defensive option and his scoring will pick up.

I didn't really want to admit it, but I was so happy with the straight swap for Petrie that something had to be said :D I agree Walker has been average, but without a half decent midfield most forwards will struggle, and the Crows midfield has struggled more than I thought they would this year.
