...going to a local supermarket that was unknown outside of South Australia, such as Tom The Cheap, Serv-Wel, 4 Square, Arrow or Big Heart.

(the eastern states did have Jack The Slasher, which I think was roughly Tom The Cheap).

- Having a Halls Lemonade with an Amscol ice cream to make a Spider.

- Getting the corner deli to give you 20c pieces to play the games like Lightning McQueen listed above.

- "Walk Against Want" ("Get your happy feet walking, join the Walk Against Want").

- Going to the Channel 9 Football School, and sewing the patch on the footy jumper afterwards.

- Flicking through Mum or Dad's K-Tel Record Selector. Actually, buying K-Tel stuff from the TV at all.

- Dino Music. When an artist was on the downward slide, Dino Music would start releasing their stuff.

Surprisingly, CP, I agree completely on this one :D . I'd hate to think how much money I spent on that over the years, and trying to work out ways of getting faster with the buttons, particularly on the sprints.

Guys I played against regularly used to use the inside of a roll of tape - like the tape you use to strap your fingers together (real thin stuff). They put their fingers inside the roll and used that to roll across the buttons really quickly. It buggered the machine up because it scratched the surface of not only the machine but the buttons as well. But jeezus did they get a good score!

When I was a kid I sold the News every Tuesday arvo on Belair Rd, outside the Caltex Servo.

I gave the Bird to the stuck up Scotch kids who went past on the bus. The following week half of 'em threw 5 & 10 cent pieces out of the window at me

I picked up more money off the ground then what News paid me 8)

I used to always "borrow" money from my cash float for a Coke.....

Used to save papers for my regulars and "drive ups" used to get pissed off I wouldn't sell 'em one.
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

I loved that game too, there was a basketball game that was at ICA Brahma Lodge that used to be pretty good along with a grid iron game, both of them you had to beat the clock to stay alive.

NBA Jam? I could never get the hang of that.

<--------- is a Wonderboy Queen and to this day I still believe that Wonderboy is in fact, the worlds best game ever.

Gauntlet was also good too :D

If anyone can remember there was an ice skating rink at the corner of Portrush and Payneham Road, across from Kerry O'Brien.

Our teachers banned the Choose Your Own Adventure book report loophole after about a dozen of us did just that in Year 7 at once  .

Did anyone else buy the ice block, which I think was called "Rocket", and collect the plastic sticks from them that could be put together to form structures/puzzles etc? Hard to describe what they looked like if you're not familiar with them, but they were interlocking.

Checking The News each week to see if your lucky SANFL Junior Supporters Club number had been picked to win a prize. One week, the number was one before mine, and I kept re-checking the paper and my card to see if there had been a mistake :(

The yearly Choc Wedge cricket sticks promotion, where you would either win an instant prize (a Choc Wedge, but some better prizes), or had a player's name on them with a number of runs. Once you collected 100 runs, you could post them in for a prize draw.

They were awesome! Mine still worked even though it
spectacularly failed to clear the duck pond on its maiden flight.

How about those demolition derby cars that had everthing fall off when you
crashed them into each other. Does anyone remember them?
