No, this is the first year. Bounce down is at 4:15PM.

I'll post the crowd figure later if anyone is interested.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Just to compare what happens elsewhere in the world - there are Good Friday soccer games scheduled in England, Spain, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Turkey, Wales, the United States, Argentina, Mexico and Japan today.

There's several full-on Christian countries amongst that lot and they don't seem to have a problem playing sport on Good Friday...

Why is Good Friday so "Dead"? :?

It should be "Good" Friday. "Happy" :D

Every day should be Happy.

Please explain this to Mrs_Dog_ger.... ;) :D

Why call it Good Friday..?
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

My brother has gone over to sydney to watch rugby today. Manly v penrith at brookvale, just spoke to him and their is a decent crowd building and yes the bar there is doing a roaring trade. He is just about to crack into a pint and hamburger now that sounds like heaven. SA THE NANNY STATE

Footy on Good Friday

Postby eaglehaslanded » Fri Apr 22, 2011 6:45 pm

For crying out loud it's about time we played some aussie rules footy on Good Friday. I know this is an old argument which splits many people's opinion. The NRL play on Good Friday, surely it's time for our great game to be played too. It's an ideal chance for the SANFL to lead the way, they had an opportunity this season but instead we get 2 games on Thur night, what's the point in this. Night footy should be done stand alone. C'mon it's time for Good Friday footy.

Thoughts?

If you are going to play football on Good Friday, keep it to the evening. The sacred time is actually 3:00pm when the death of Jesus is commemorated.
However, as stated earlier, the reason for not having a match on this day may be more to do with cost than religious observance.

Cheers and enjoy Good Friday whichever way you decide to celebrate it.

bp2, one could argue that without a birth there would be no death ;)

What if some players refuse to play due to religious beliefs?

Seriously, it bemuses me that peoples' lives are so devoid of genuine interest that they can't find something else to do for 24 hours.
