Sort of ... I can live with it because I got Heppell in and he scored 90. After 61 and 39 I couldn't let Everitt drop in price while Heppell jumped. So I think it was the right call. It's just that Everitt moved into the forward line and scored something like 70 in the last quarter! Because it seems an abherration I can live with it.

It's more the stubbornness on Curnow that I am regretting now after my mid bench rookes scored 39 (Conca), 38 (Bewick) and DNP (Atley).

That was my bench, but traded out Atley for Libba because I thought Curnow would spud up against the Pies ](*,)

Still happy with Bewick, only played a third of a game and scored 38. Potential is there to score highly.

Yes, you are right on Bewick. I noticed he was the sub still at 3/4 time and was really surprised to see he got 38.

Also, instead of switching to Curnow I dumped the popular Josh Toy for Otten (who spudded up with 44) when I saw Otten was named centre. Apparently McKenna said in an interview over the weekend that Toy would spend 3-4 weeks in the QAFL or wherever they play. So I may have one less non-playing rookie than a lot of other teams to compensate.

Conca should improve and hopefully Atley will too. I can't justify a 3rd trade this early just to stuff further around with rookie choices.

So he says now !

The Indian media has called for an investigation into Hogg Premier league this week after predicted pre-season spud The Ginger Nuts cleaned up the number one seed in the third round. After years of playing in the Hogg this is Gingernuts' finest hour and this will prove to be a very handy four points for the Ninjas as not many teams will defeat the Hondominators.

In other news Mr Football's reign at the top of the ladder ended when he was shot down by the Blue_Guns. The Guns assumed the position and now look down on us all after an impressive opening three weeks. Following Gingernuts stunner was the absolutely freakish form of the chardy set who went went from Emu Bitter to Moet with a massive 2300 points which has left Cub a forlorn figure without a win after three weeks. In a round where most coaches stumbled chardies excelled themselves with some bubbly form just in the nick of time.

Poon Army's Bomber brigade has hauled them into the top eight as the Squeakys pulled out the kind of score they racked up all to often last season. Q Man also marched into the eight on the back of a win over the underperforming dropkicks who might be headed back to Divvy I at this rate. CoverKing must be wondering what he has to do to make the top eight after he cleaned up my REBCats but slipped out of the eight!

Boxhead United continued on his scoring strike but dunKsKrew are the Gold Coast of this league so he got away with a much needed victory. Hawkeye is another coach out of luck and he went within a whisker of overcoming the Dark Side. A great start to Hogg Premier this year but not much fun being outside of the eight...especially with Gingernuts unbeaten!

Stupidly in hindsight I put Yarran on the bench and let 61 points go by playing Tapscott on field for 50.

That said, you have a very good side and a much better midfield bench than mine. I really think ignoring Curnow was stubbornly wrong in hindsight.

Cheers mate. Out of interest, did you change your captain this week?

I was tossing up whether to jump off Goddard, but I stuck with him in the end and the 20 points difference definitely helped me across the line. So close to jumping to Pendlebury or Sandilands. Having Selwood back in this week helped just a tad too.

i cracked the 2000 mark this week finially. i lost big on captain too. went to VC Gibbs and he had a well below average game. Shed some dead weight and now should be back in the mix for the rest of the season!

Curnow is pissing me right off. Like many coaches I have guessed wrong and he scored well against the Pies. That ship has now sailed and Curnow is now averaging the same as Chris Judd. And here's me paying over 400k extra for the privelidge GRRR.

At least I have Libba, Swallow, Hibberd and Pittard as my rookie mids and Libba is the next best thing to Curnow with only Hibberd yet to debut. Very happy with Pittard as well because Port don't have the bye for a while so I can wait until his price gets nice and juicy before MOO MOO.

I ignored your wise words on Curnow and moved on him at Atley's expense, the only trade I've made so far.

This makes me very happy.

Yeah never got the buzz over Atley. North had too many like him and it looked to me like the kid badly needed a feed. Too many cheap mature bods in the comp this year to pick him up so I thought that was one **** that was a bit more easy to spot.

I still reckon that Curnow, and Carlton generally will go pear shaped..although their defence is much improved. See that's what happens when you get a Redleg back there!

I would have preferred to get Curnow if I had my time again but I still don't think he will average 114 like Barlow did last year. I see trades going on where people are culling other cows too early so I am confident in the long run I can cope without him. I held Yarran for example and he has averaged > Curnow since round 1.

Still, having him >> not having him

That is my biggest regret so far. After round 2, i wanted to get Tascott into the side. For some reason i got rid of Yarran (mainly cause i thought REB was going to, and he did) and kept Taylor Walker. Hopefully Walker can pull out a 100 soon so i can get rid of him. The 200k in the bank that Yarran - Tapscott will come in handy eventually, but only being two trades down and unlikely to make this week, i am still comfortable with where i am sitting.

Yes, I am only 2 trades down and one of them was to get Heppell which I am happy with. I also got Otten as a second cash cow and hopefully even a keeper in my last defence spot. In hindsight, Curnow would been better than Otten however Atley and Conca showed much better signs last round.

I also picked my team to get through rounds 4-6 with no trades which should work out hopefully.

I traded away far too early last year and wont be making the same mistake again this year.

Have used one trade and that was to get on Smith as my back up ruckman.

Have some good cash cows so reasonably happy even though i am 2-1.

After the dust settled in Round 4 of Hogg Premier League we only have one undefeated team at this point, Darksiders SCE. The Darkside triumphed by a single point over The Ginger Ninjas who pulled a clanger with McKernan over Matera. It is simple things like this that can make such a difference in a good league and Gingernuts tiny mistake has led to a tinier losing margin. On such matters a season may hinge.

The bottom eight fought back this week with FOOTYLEDGENS, Boxhead United, REBCats and Hawkeye all recording much needed victories. As in the other leagues plenty of coaches were stung by Grimes and Curnow...did anyone have both? I was spewing about just Grimes let alone worrying about Curnow as well.

Of teams that are doing a little better Mr Football is quietly going about his business and Poon Army who is going about his business less quietly. The Bombers and the Army are on the march and he's pretty happy about it! The Blue_Guns were finally silenced this week and Squeaky tumbled out of the eight after he got bitten by Pup.

The teams in the Orange zone represent those teams that face the prospect of relegation. Remember that the election changed nothing in this league and the teams in orange will play off in Round 21 of the AFL season for the right to remain in Hogg Premier League next season.

Cost me top spot! #-o

Lesson learnt. Put as much thought into the emergencies as you do the captaincy, because you never know when they might be needed.
