I did not say Boyd was as good as Allan, i was just pointing out that James never seems to do damage against us!! Going on your comments maybe he should do what Boyd did and move to a team that will aid his obvious skill and ability and just maybe he will recieve that premiership medal he deserves!!

Allan is loyal, and no quitter. ;)

so, he's been at Norf all his footy career then.

I disagree with your Junk Time PA goal summation, in this game
Why is nearly always when this happens
Using today as an example
NA 15-9
PA 8-11
PA kick the last 2 goals, and it is often said it was junk time, NA were relaxing , took foot of pedal etc etc
NA 15-9
PA 10-11

OR
NA kick the last 2 goals and win, and it is often said NA killed them off, or PA gave up, etc etc
NA 17-9
PA 10-11

I saw it this way, PA gave me vertigo all day watching em criss cross , go side ways, and being as indirect as possible in a game of footy
Then in the last 10 minutes today they decided to play more corridor footy, go longer and direct and got a couple of good late goals

JUNK TIME GOALS
Point being
A;When a good, or the winning team kicks goals in 4th qtr junk time it is said its good or great footy
B; When a bad or a losing team kicks goals in the 4th qtr junk time, its often said becoz the other team eased up
Perhaps about 65% of the time its A and not B

BUT
Today PA played well in the last 10 minutes , and thats why they got Junk goals

Port may have played well in the last 10 minutes but North definitely took the foot off the pedal. As well as having the injured Tony Armstrong off the field the interchange bench was Jimmy Allan and George Thring, North's best defender today. North's full forward line included Ackland and Mason, our two ruckmen and Daniel Stewart was doing the rucking. North's centre square for the last 10 minutes was Stewart Teasdale, D Armstrong and Bennett a far cry from the strong centre square that North had for most of the day.

Geelong Falcons, then Geelong rookie list, delisted then 2 years at Werribee, and now at North. I guess he could go chase an easy premiership. ;)

Hard to be loyal in the VFL when your team gets realigned to a different AFL club every year. It's not like he left because of a new coach or SOME OTHER REASON.

Can we all get off the Jimmy Allan and how gets his kicks and whether he is tagged or not please???

Allan was brilliant today, was tagged and as usual "dealt" with many a time off the ball as RIG pointed out. The fact Allan went off with 14 minutes to go is a testament to his gut running and ability to win possession no matter what is dealt up.

Sorry Mal - your summary was not bad except for 2 key areas. You didn't quite get the Allan thing and RIG is right - Port got a couple of junk time goals and 3 from very dubious frees - HOWEVER Port were not disgraced by any means and typically Port Adelaide they do not give up the contest. They lacked 2 good defenders today to match up on a fwd line of Stewart, Gill and Alleway.

As for Butcher - read lots about him and his kicking etc. Big unit but he moves well, athletic can take a grab! He needs maybe to improve his goal kicking but the same stuff was said about Gill but he made with more obstacles and he goes ok? Butcher I thinks needs to be a given a chance soon at the Power otherwise his first AFL game may be in a GWS jumper.

Not where I stood. We were all commenting about where were the Port mob today. I was in front of the remaining grandstand which understandably was all North but we could hardly hear a whimper when Port scored. Perhaps it was different in the outer.

There were a few on the outer side where I sat including 1 idiot who spent all day whinging everytime North got a free kick (even when they were clearly there) and calling for free kicks whenever a North player went near a Port player with the ball. Lost count of the number of times he used the words w***er, b***tard and f**got (those were the only 3 words he seemed to know as well) to the North players and the umpires.

i'd say this 'junk time goals' area TODAY was a case of north easing up given the fact they have to front up on thursday night which is absolutely ludicrous & unfair to north imho

Yes how dare North front up to training on thursday night (presuming they train on that night)

Missed this one due to Junior footy duties and, even though we lost, once again we seem to take some positives from the game.

Good signs for the Magpies for the rest of this year and the future.

Like I said, I wasnt there, but, we now seem to be able to at least match it with the more mature sides around and I think North will play finals. After beating Glenelg and letting another slip away against Norwood we are truly on the 'up' as far as the ladder goes IMO.

Been trying times at Alberton mate, easy to find positives in little things.
