They could do something Centrals can't do. Win 2 cups in the 1 year.

Point is Centrals haven't, and more than likely never will
Maybe you (Centrals) should of tested yourselves against the interstate teams. Could of used the prizemoney to change some light bulbs.
The sad thing is we will never know who is right as West, Port and North were never serious contenders for a flag this year. Not saying it couldn't happen, but without Centrals, Norwood or WWT competing, it will remain an unknown.

The Sleeping Giant (Thu Apr 07, 2011) wrote:(To "whufc") How many more times are we going to hear your same arguments against this comp? Centrals chose not to participate, so move on.

Sound advice.

Thats alot of work to repost the quotes. Should of added Centurions also. ;)

I hope one of our teams do well and win it.

It will prove that our bottom teams are better than the rest of the country!!

I can't find my previous post regarding West's first opponent Ainslie. Ainslie got pumped by GWS last week by about 9 goals. Not sure what that says about either side.

After all the off-season discussion, I'm sure none of us thought that West would represent SA in the first game as the only undefeated team, top of the SANFL ladder

So far all teams that have had a bye have lost. Maybe having the week off is a bad thing. ;)

You might be right, TSG.

West's form after a bye has been terrible for years, so I'm glad we're playing this week.

This is the same in the AFL, will be interesting at the end of the year to see if a pattern has emerged.

One for spelly i guess, over the last say 5 SANFL years what is the win-loss record for teams coming off a bye.

Playing the Foxtel cup last Saturday certainly didn't affect West this week and was probably a big help.

With good player management, I never thought playing instead of having a week off would be a bad thing.

Interesting to note Foxtel are promoting their new 24 hour footy channel for 2012 currently and part of the promotion is Live Foxtel Cup games. Maybe it does have legs for next year?

Was thinking that also, wont be room on the weekends with 9 games, but a live game mid week would be a great fit for the channel

If the Foxtel Cup continues beyound this year, I think it needs to be set up in 2 x 8 team divisions.

Division 1: SANFL (3 sides), WAFL (2 sides), VFL (3 sides)
Division 2: TSL (3 sides), AFLNSW (2 sides), NEAFL (3 sides)

The gap between the division 1 sides and division 2 sides is just too great IMO, as seen by the lopsided results in the first round, particularly the games involving the SANFL sides as while West are on the improve, Port is not the strongest SANFL side going around, and I expect North will belt Labrador next week as well, yet they're the bottom side in the SANFL.

Agreed....only 2 games with margins of less than about 6 goals and 4 by more than 10 goals....think that may change with the next round of games though.
Trust the process.

On ABC News tonight Neil Cross said that Fox & I gather the AFL have agreed to a new five year deal to continue with the Foxtel Cup but haven't been able to find any links about it online.
