So.....we are all standing on the backs of 4 elephants, which in turn are balanced on the back of a giant turtle. I can relate to that.

simple solution get rid of the power and leave the magpies alone. I have absolute respect for the magpies being our greatest enemy, and probably the biggest rivalry in the sanfl. Without the them the competition would not be the same from a norwood supporters point of view. We will both be the powehouse of the competition again at some stage lets hope it is soon.

very very good post leh,
absolutely respect the magpies for their achievments prior to the power.
1870 on their backs is an absolute joke!!!

So when Flinders Park went from the SAFA to the Amateur League, did they lose their heritage, history etc?

Depends. Did they tell the SAFA to get effed and go to an amateur comp based in Melbourne? ;)
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Was the Woodville Football club that played in the amateurs the same one that went on to play Reserves in the SANFL, in addition to League in SANFL from 1964 to 1990?

Woodville.. Woodville.. refresh my memory. I seem to recall vague stories that it was a club that died after a chain of events were set in motion by a treacherous neighbouring club.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I don't think anyone is saying to get rid of them - they ARE here to STAY because that is what the evil overlord GAYFL want.

My points relate to WHY they can't get a crowd & have to keep going 'cap in hand' to BOTH GAYFL & SANFL.

I draw the ANALOGY...

Two franchise owners in same street - for the sake of argument "LEH's Lunch Box"
1 has been there for 20 years, BRANDED itself for all (i.e Adelaide Crows 'team for all South Australians)
The other, BRANDED itself for specific clients (i.e. Port Power's so called 'Creed' & a borrowed History)

Both businesses are losing money, 1 more so than the other, due to hard economic times (i.e. Global Financial Crisis - GFC (no relation to Brighton Rd.))
Does the Government say to BOTH - 'The answer is; that both franchises need to move their base to a different location because 1 of you can't sell enough ?

No, they don't - that would be ridiculous.
The owner of the franchise downsizes & cops the loss.
So why then, does the AFL dictate to the OWNER of both franchises to do this very thing?
If the business is UNSUSTAINABLE due to various reasons, then clearly the answer is to remove it - now that may mean SELLING it to another.

A solution is to sell the licence (which the SANFL PAID $4,000,000 + for) to someone like Tasmania or NT.
The best lesson in business is; "You don't fix any problem by throwing money at it".

The SANFL has some responsibility here too ... after all, they allowed the 2nd 'franchise' to be called Port Adelaide.

Further to this, The SANFL Competition is in danger of dieing as a result of the push from Port (& to a lesser degree the Crows, as they will want the same deal) to have a Reserves side in the SANFL. Selling the franchise to someone else will remove this option at least.

Can we actually get past using 'Gay' to denote that something is inherently inferior?

Look who's talking, Port have far better crowds than your mob.
At the end of the year lets see who's leading the attendances.
Eagles won't even be in the top 5
