The tribunal would have had at least one experienced player on it and is also known for leniency (at least understanding the player's position).
I think they were in a better position to judge the case than you, with respect.
I think the "known for leniency" component may well be a thing of the past ... As I posted elsewhere, it was determined at the hearing that contact was inconclusive, so it was left to the umpire who swore he'd seen it clearly.
I know you'll defend the system until the cows come home RaB, but my concern before the season has only heightened now, and that is that for trivial, doubtful or minimal offences, players could miss games because of this points system.
The players are the star attractions of this sport, and I'm going to find it hard to support a system that forces their absence more than I think is necessary, or curtails the physical aspect of our game by having players walking on eggshells on the field.
I'll give it a little longer as it's too early to tell after one incident, but I hope I can return and say it's worked well and my fears never materialized.
