I do know him, his name is Harold. Used to play on a wing for Henley Greek - real quiet guy but one of the greats none the less.

Yeah - fair call. I wasn't saying these guys would be midfielders for Geppies. But they're certainly midfield guns in the Riverland. The Barry boys - Matt (Mary is his nickname) will definitely get a shot in the midfield at some point. While I reckon the other two will be flankers or pockets at some point. Pat in particular is good running off a hbf.

Yeah I understand your point mate, Geppys have a few mid sized players who fit that mould as flankers but thes guys will have a fresh look at the scene, take the challenge and could end up doing very well. As a previous thread mentioned though, they need to really grab a couple of guns to bolster the stock otherwise back down they go, like a bloody sea-saw that club in recent years. Im still baffled as to that fact they told Adam heuskes his services were not wanted at the club in 07!

Anyone that knows him will vouch for him as one of the best blokes they know, he is a club man through and through. He was very loyal to Geppys, played there before AFL then returned and coached there. He was going to play for almost nothing in 07. Apparently there was one bloke who is now on the committee and has never even met heuskes who gave out the marching orders. Lucky for Geppys that heuskes didnt cause a mass exodus, there are quite a few current Agraders that are very good mates with him, Heuskes told them to stay at the club in 07.

Footymad you have been drinking to much red bull. What a load of crap that Heuskus was going to play for Gepps for almost nothing. The reason he is not playing for gepps is that he demanded way to much money and the club gave him a lower offer and said take it or leave it. He opted to leave it and go for a lot more money to another club.

Mark Shadiac You Are Wrong!

Postby FootyMad » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:41 am

Mark Shadiac, you are so far off mark I doubt you will be returning to earth anytime soon. Your posting replying to heuskes is complete and utter rubbish and could not be further from the truth. I am telling you from the horses mouth that the money that heuskes is on is nothing in comparison to what you think, he is now playing at a club as a favour to a mate of his and recieves not much more than what some would consider petrol money! Especially for a former All-Australian!
Further more Adam Heuskes did not get the opportunity to talk to gepps officially re money and the door was shut by a more recent addition to the committee prior to any official talks other than that he wanted to return were had.

I'm getting the feeling you won't get a reply from Mr Shadiac FM.
But at least you're on the record of defending AH ;)

Heuskes, quality footballer and great club man, especially for the younger blokes!!

The way he gets guys of all ages involved is second to none and for the comittee memeber at gepps o hut the door on him is a joke, i know plenty of people that would love to play with him. And could mention about 30 other amateur clubs that would be happy to pay at least 300 for his services, and he should probably get more even if he doesnt train!!!

Good luck to and i am glad gepps let him go, their YOYO tradition will continue.

On that note, Does anyone know much about Payneham Norwood? Any suggestions on how they will travel in Div 2 this year?

A Grade looks strong at Payneham/Norwood - similar lineup to last years premiership side. I think theyve got about three trials too so they should be on track come rnd 1

Yeah, that was a bit of bad luck, the coach wasnt too happy with that.. also wondering whether ramblers are going to try and change our round 2 game at seaton, as there is a crows game on that night...if they dont have the car park, no one will get paid  We wouldnt want to swap it for a home game, cos that means we play 4 away games in a row in the 2nd half of the season. that would be carp :x

From last years premiership side we've lost 4 or 5 players to overseas, injury and other committments but the new blokes that have come in and look like they'll fit in just nicely.

I guess the only good thing is the trials at Camden and Round 1 at Payneham at least something changes. Our coach wasn't that happy either.
