Nathan is desperate to win a medal this year, but it's not that one!

Plus I think it would be pretty tough to overwrite Eagleton with Allen, who I'd have as early favorite. Gets so much of the footy and perhaps doesn't have so many players in his team to take votes him. James Allen that is, though Ty might be a decent prospect as well!

Too many good players around him to take away votes. There's no guarantee he got 3 votes last Friday.

Well if they are going to engrave it, I hope they spell his name right. It's James Allan

I'd be shocked if he didn't though, we was truly exceptional

no, don't. At his age he is more prone to injuries, especially coming from AFL to SANFL & with different training regimes.

Big call to name anyone at this point in the season, especially as you can't see what will hapen in future rounds in regards to injury. I do agree however that if Eagleton can stay sound body wise and he continues this form, he will be a good chance to win it.

There is a possibilty that Nathan was reported :shock: (thats Eagleton not Bassett [after his critical comments on the double header, who knows, it might happen :roll: ]) Friday night so if he was and found guity, pointless engraving the medal at this point in time.

Although I am not questioning his ability, or his previous wins, I do have to question James Allen from North;

It appears to me that he gets a lot of 'free pozies' by simply running past blokes who have taken marks or got free kicks & receiving a handball. Does this action not 'muddle' the 'pozies count' somewhat?

To me, the value of a hardball get compared to a 'run past reception' is much higher.

Any thoughts?

I have seen every SANFL game Jimmy Allan plays and I couldn't disagree more vehemently. He is the best "gut runner" I have seen in the SANFL, at least since the advent of the Crows. I can't ever remember seeing hin get cheap possessions like you reckon. Without him and Alleway North wouldn't win a game.

I agree - if it was so easy to rake up possesions just by running past receivers all day then a lot more would do it. You need the engine to keep doing it & to burn off a tagger or two.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

If you watch Jimmy closely, you will often see him having a barf during the game. He gets enough of his own footy, but does know how to get a handball from a ruckman. ;)

To get 30+ possies a game, you have to get to a few contests.

No, despite some newspaper reports he wouldn't have been in our top 4 on Friday night. Played well but not a vote-winning performance.

All midfielders get their share of easy ball, but Allan also wins more than his share of hard ball gets. One of the better midfielders in the SANFL over the past 20 years.

Statistics would say that James Ezard would have one of the highest ball get numbers in the SANFL, IMO.
