I expected a few upsets today, i must say this Div 3 comp is anyones this year if they want it bad enough.
Looking at Seatons side they only have 3 new comers in it, the rest all played A"s last year so they don't look as bad as first thought, only missing Wanders, Degabrielle & Treloer, other than Wanders i wouldn't worry about the other 2 from last year as i think they were more worried about the $$$, others down there wouldn't admit that.

SMOSH must of been walking around with over inflated heads throughout the week beating Portland.

To Lose against Pooraka is an embarrassment to themselves, the club, coaching staff & supporters.
A week in footy is a long time & SMOSH are a bloody good side that need to have a good hard look at themselves & know where they went wrong.
They only have to look at a neighbouring club to know right from wrong.

why is it embrassing to lose to pooraka

2 good wins out at Harpers Field yesterday in pretty tough conditions. Despite Flinders Park turning up for the B grade game with no umpire, no flags and no medical supplies (all supplied by us in the end...) it was a good hard game. We got a couple of goals up at half time but FP fought back in the 3rd to take the lead into the last quarter. The ball rarely left our inside 50 and a high tackle saw us have a shot after the siren to snatch the win. A good game though despite the stressful ending... ;)

The A grade game saw the 'burras get off to a 2 goal lead at quarter time as the cool wind started to pick up across the ground so no team was really favoured. Half time saw the scores about 5 goals to 2 despite it being fairly even. Third quarter saw about a 45 minute delay as number 1 from FP took a mark and swung around and played on only to be tackled from behind, very similarly to Trent Hentschel and suffered a shocking compound fracture of his leg. Both teams tried to stay warm and focussed as they waited for the ambulance to clear and upon the game starting again Flinders kicked a couple in a row and it was on. We settled in the last quarter to record a 20 point win in the end and a good boost to our confidence after being pumped by Para Hills last week.

Even though I haven't seen alot of the sides, judging by the results so far this year I reckon it will be a very up and down division...

Mate that is a bulls!t post.... Jars had a gameplan and a few things to counteract the portland game style. He was playing is cards very close to his chest which i thought was necessary considering half of portland was listening in to the quarter time speeches. Honestly thought with his homework he was spot on.

Because he has such a high profile he is going to get a lot of stick if CBC continue putting up bad results, he will cop the brunt of it. I honestly feel like the playing group are letting him down.

We play for him. We are very lucky to have him.

Great post, as only the inner circle of players and those within the group, would have known what is going on at CBC or in any club for that matter.

Not so good, as a bit of a cheap shot at FP. They apparently only took their case to the league who gave them the points along with other clubs. Not their fault to apply and get in early. All of us other clubs would have as well if we thought of it, bet on it. ;)

Very very cheap i know but Wisager got me real fired up. Its not so much a go at FP but the league. FP have a responsibility to its members sponsors and players not to the rest of the league and i honestly cant blame them for giving it a crack. But i will use it as motivation when we play them.

Well without appearing like I'm having a go at Flinders Park, if they are over the points limit on what I saw yesterday they aren't really getting value for money.....

Would not mind having a lazy 100 on FP making the finals and GG not being there around September would you and I am neutral to both sides and clubs?

Thats hardly the topic of discussion though davo. I don't remember saying we would make finals and they wouldn't ?? Simply said that if they are over the points criteria on "what I saw yesterday" then I don't think they have recruited that well. Sure, they may cruise into the finals and may have had an off day yesterday and sure, we may find it hard to make it but I can only go on what I saw yesterday....

Wasnt having a crack at his game plan or strategies. Just expected him to be a better communicator or give a more inspirational address. Portland v CBCOC Its great going into a game with the opposition thinking they have it in the bag. But in sayin that if i wasnt involved with CBC i wouldnt tip us....... But we all know a week is a long time in footy.

That is an extaordinary comment coming from someone who plays or supports a specific club. A week in footy is a long time but i would never at any stage tip against my own club. Regardless what you type and if you were or werent part of it. Youa re and that spells out a defeatest attitude from the get go. You can go on and type this is an open forumn whatever.

On the game itself it was said at the club that it as a specticle was not a great game. CBC were good in places but just like us not effective with some of the movements forward. For both clubs (but i will say more in our direction) the umpiring was sub standard. Up forward Prior again couldnt get a trick from the umps. How many times he should have got paid is beyond me. Most like some key players who on one hand may get everything but on the other like the past 2 weeks been given nothing. I think Upton did a great job on Paccini. Laslett gold as usual and Bird has no respect for his body and just gets right in. I dont know any of the CBC blokes really but your taller players were quite good. With the other results going the way they have this year will be a cracker. Next week for us will test our resolve and show what we need to do to be there at the same level in September.

FRED wrote:X RUNNA (or anyone who was at the game), can you give a report on the Mitcham/Para Hills game today. From what my mate told me PH in control for most of the game. Not the first time PH have lost out there in the dying minutes.

I wouldn't have said PH were in control, but they were certainly in the contest the whole game.We had a good 1st quarter, but didn't finish on the score board. Second quarter was woeful, we went in at half time 3 goals down. Came out in the second half and started to take control, but still lacked that finish in front we needed. In the end we were lucky to finish up by a goal. Certainly expect to see some better footy from us in coming weeks as lads find some form and fitness.

Umpiring was poor - they need to learn the difference between a high tackle when you're puting your head over the ball, and ducking into/when you're getting tackled. The game itself was played in pretty good spirits by both sides, and plenty of PH lads came in for a beer after which was good to see.

What's the diagnosis on Levy? Big loss for PH early in the first, didn't look great - and could have proved the difference in the end. Where's PH's young ruckman from last year?

Plenty of interesting results

Ok mate in laymen's terms Portland deserved to be favourites, home ground form etc. Think i was the only 1 to tip CBC on here. Try opening your other eye ;)

Prior was beaten by Scott Galpin not many blokes will have a good day against him. Umpiring was fine no bearing on the game (dont think either was academy). Bird is very good. I was impressed with his game.

Portland set everything up with a counter attack through the back 6 and the middies lining up through the middle but we countered it very well, which gave us a chance at the points. Where portland won the game was in the middle. The on ball department smashed us at the stoppages.

Didnt intend there was any malice in having a listen.

Before the game and at half time DJ runs through the whole team talking about each individual their role and what is expected of them. He has a very good knowledge of the players he picks. Great communicator.

Mate, you have to remember Jars was deep in enemy territory - he is always going to cop flack from people down the Port way. I think Sturtman meant that he was surprised at his coaching style more than anything.

You wont hear anything bad from me about Fud - the bloke is an absolute legend and one of the greatest players of all time, anywhere. He could hold up cue cards, or do sign language at quarter time huddles, and i still wouldnt bag him!
