Still, it was wonderful to beat the Roosters.

Wundke, Stribling have be great recruits for South. Stribling definately enjoying the freedom as a non-tagger as he was mainly at North.

Horne, Lyons, Stribling outstanding.

Like I have said at the start of the year...South with their pace will upset a few teams this year. They are young, fast and pretty slick with their handball and move the ball on well.
We had WWT rattled for most of the game last week. This week North just seemed unable to keep up with their pace.

Goal kicking is a big worry. We really should have won that game by 6 goals.

Overall, the night went well. Seemed a pretty good crowd but weather would have kept many away tonight.

The vocal support for South was really good to see too. Im sure it helped the guys at the end.

The low point of the night was I did not win the 10K :(

I must say....I really do enjoy beating North.

Centrals next week will be tough after their loss against West this week.

I must say...... i really enjoy reading North losing!!

Well no mercy - you will have lots to read this year.

Well done South - if not for missing a bucket load of shots it would have or should have been a blow out! What impressed me about South is their pace and movement with and without the ball.

North have some real issues - poor decision making, no urgency and general lack of pace other than Ryswyk and maybe Teasdale the rest looked slow.

Wooden spoon a big possibility at Prospect for 2011 - we appear to be the only team so far to have slipped back - well maybe Sturt but time will tell on that?
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Just repairing the damage is Francou. Plenty of doomsayers at North. Maybe we will start beating teams other than South and West......Glenelg for starters. Things are looking to rosy down the bay way atm either.

Really?

I reckon Francou is just going to try another form of discipline. Once anyone Jarman infected is gone, North may advance. Until then, they will believe the bullshit he told them and will finish where they deserve. Once they get over that, they may have a shot at something credible.

Couldn't make the match due to a wedding, but great to see the lads get up. Managed to catch the final 5 mins or so on the radio which was well timed.

Anybody got a crowd figure? Sounds like a great night nonetheless.

Hopefully I dont have to wait another 17 weeks to see South get up again. 8)

Good game last night. If South can keep their injury list down they will win their fair share of games this year. They still don't have a lot of depth, so injuries will be the telling factor.

The wind was cold and blew in from the west and that made goal kicking to the southern end a problem for both teams. North kicked 1-5 and South kicked 2-9 to that end.

South looked the better side for about 80% of the time, but then let the Roosters kick quick goals to get back into the game. I didn't see North playing badly, it was just that they were under pressure for the most part whenever they got the ball. The few times that South dropped off the pressure North moved the ball very cleanly and quickly to score. I don't see North as being an obvious wooden spooner - they have too many quality players.

Somebody asked about young Irra - he took one good grab and set up a Wunke goal, but other than that had a pretty quiet night. He started each quarter on the bench and came on about halfway through each quarter. He's only 17 and doesn't look out of place at all, so he should have a good future.

Good crowd all round the ground. We took the car and parked on the wing and I'm looking forward to the next night game against Port.

I agree entirely. Last year I thought that we were only 2 players away from the wooden spoon, Allan and Alleway. They are absolute quality, as good as any two in the SANFL, but I don't think that we have another player who is quality. Maybe Wright, but that would be all. Gill and Ryswyk can win you a game, but they are too hot and cold. And that is about it as far as I am concerned.

when you consider that North played in the 2007 Grand Final, it's been a rapid demise. I know it's only round 2 but losses to West & South aren't what you'd want to see.

Long way to go, JF would be trying to improve the players and their playing style and I wouldn't have thought they would be focussing too much on the ladder.

I think someone mentioned earlier (maybe AH) at how tight and intriguing this season is shaping up to be, and I agree.

Well done South and congrats to your loyal supporters on two reportedly impressive performances to start the season.

A rapid demise, but not unusual. West Coast went from Premiers in the AFL in 2006 to wooden spooners in 2010.

North have only 5 players left from that GF side, Allan, Alleway, Gill, Wright and Gallma. McIntyre was dropped for the Grand Final and Ryswyk missed from injury. Interestly South came 4th in 2006, Thewis is the only player left from that side.

Let me just remind everyone that Norwood also lost to South in round 2 underlights last year.

I wouldnt write off North yet. Takes a while to get rid of old habits.

Yep great post, writing any of Central, North or Sturt off after two rounds of football is ridiculous, especially after last season with Norwoods 0-4 start.

Though it is fun to write teams off hey!!
