port controlled the game for 3 quarters (we controlled the 2nd quarter) & deserved their win, i thought the loss of murphy before the game & then kirk & rudolph didn't help our balance etc, but port had more numbers at the fall of the ball for the majority of the day.....i'm sure our goal kicking will come under scrutiny again after the first quarter debacle......now off to noarlunga

Anyone agree no team deserved to win that one? Skills in the first half were some of the worst I've seen. Did I hear correct that Glenelg got 2 free kicks after qtr time. Losing Rudolph and Kirk probably cost the bays in the end.

Moment of the day was a close up of pseudo on the grandstand side, followed by a shot of happy trails on the outer side. And soders telling us who was starting on the "power" bench.

Great game of footy today, Port were terrible in the 2nd qtr..

Was much much happier to see Ebert into the centre square after half time as well as the more basic game plan of get the ball and get it forward..

Kirk and Rudolph going off didn't have much impact they were well into the last quarter when they went off .

Would be keen to hear from Glenelg fans opinion of McMahaon at this point of the season. His "handball" late in the game on the grandstand side to a player was an interesting choice.

I thought Ports skills were worse than Glenelgs and Port chip the ball too much and could go more direct at times. Grima must have got moved back to CHB in the last ( I think ) which was interesting . Glenelg fans wanted young ones to get a shot and that seems tobe occurring but is also taking the Bays back a step or two, lucky not be 0 - 2.

The last quarter of a game decided by two points. Rudolph was one of the best players running around today and I would think Port's forward line were glad to see the back of him. Two weeks in a row Glenelg have played 1 out of 4 quarters, need to sharpen up for the Parade Friday night.

Well done to Port who deserved the win.

Injuries played no part in the result ... Port working harder and Ebert were the difference.

Fairly ordinary game at times, with some deplorable skills from both sides.

Not one for the highlights reel.

Our third quarter today was probably our best football for the past 3, or possibly even 5 years.

Glenelg's skills were down (as were Norwood's last week) due to the general pressure and intesnsity applied by the Magpies. We now seem to be prepared to attack the man with the footy, rather than trying to play zones or all that other AFL bullshit that simply confuses young blokes.

Milera - awesome. Silky skills. I dare not say the name Wanganeen, but.... Oops!
Ebert - playing on the ball, he was 100 times better than last week.
Lokan - what a rock. Seems to have all the time in the world. which is probably just as well, cos he aint fast.
Clinch - is really developing into a consistent player now.
Mercer - ah, if only he could kick!!!

We still make silly mistakes and dumb decisions, but you have to expect that from kids.

Need to back it up next week against the Roosters. Pretty confident that their old legs and bodies wont be up to it though...

A pinnacle win for the club imo. After the close losses of last year and last week, i hope the club take this as the moment we start to move back towards finals again. Well done maggies

What was the crowd today?

That's what I thought at the start of the game but wouldn't be surprised to read the figure ending up being closer to 3,000 perhaps?

disappointing.

Commented before the game that the crowd seemed a little light compared with recent years at Alberton.

2 point win to Port = a fitting result I think. Both teams had their moments but Port had more of 'em and were clearly hungrier.

PS How's the soup going down pipers, or are we back on to solids now?
