Sorry Vaughan, your side are in for a long bleak winter! Did I see you picked in team of the week, or something like that?

Id have been confident if they had kept last years side that they would have been in with a sniff of making the 5 but as has been documented..... its been a long offseason for them and probably a long season ahead.

Still, it was a bit of a tough ask first up.

Yep, they were that confident that they were going to succeed in Div 1 they requested to play the premier at their home ground in round one.......................obviously that was before all their players decided to leave.

They've lost 12 from their A grade squad from last season and Port District's Best Players on the weekend looked like Torrens Valley's last season. They've all deserted Gary, "No Gary No!"

A whiff of arrogance? Just some confidence? Yes one loss for the year, but we all know that so move on! Looking forward to another great year, we may lose 1-3 games yet hopefully finish top, then hope the finals are nicer to us! From last weekends results, Lofty shocked a bit, OV also, and the big Dundo-$2000p/g-vic showed he can help Blackwood win it this year! Oh Bridgy, hope you young lads stick it out!

Hmmm, I did bring this up last week lebron - you don't expect much from Lofty? I didn't think it'd be the 23-odd goal flogging, but I thought they'd be streets ahead of the Raiders. I think I picked Onkas too, I think they're worth watching out for.
That Dundovic seems formiddable, but if shut down, will the Woods find other avenues to goal like they were able to last year when they lost Gigney?
I reckon the teams outside the 5 will have more of a say on the shape of the finals than they have been able to in a long time. Lobey might win a few (if fit as mentioned) on their home planet, IB always a threat at home, TV might even be a test at home. Should be interesting. Injuries to key players will be an even bigger factor I reckon.

I know Blackwood last won a flag in 1991, but what's their record like? They seem to be always in finals, would they have played more finals than any other club in the last 20 years??

Bridgewater vs Mt. Barker - Mt. Barker by alot (20+ goals)

Hahndorf vs Blackwood - Blackwood, they've got a good record against Hahndorf and will have to much firepower for a young Hahndorf. (5 goals)

Lobethal vs Uraidla - Uraidla, the margin won't be as large as it has been in previous years, but still comfortable for Uraidla (8-12 goals)

Torrens Valley vs Onkaparinga Valley - Onka. Valley, once again Onka have a more even team that Torrens and will be too strong, but expect a better performace from Torrens Valley. (8-12 goals)

Ironbank vs Mt Lofty - Mt Lofty, will be the game of the round and after watching Ironbank last week, they've got a good fitness base and do enjoy playing Lofty at home, but I think Mt Lofty will be too strong for them. (5 goals)

Don't know about last 20 years, but I dont think they would have missed the finals for 10. Hahndorf played in 11 straight finals series from 1990 I think, Uraidla would have been in most years in the last 20 with the odd miss out, Mt Barker and Onkas too.

From Hills Central it would be Uraidla. Maybe 3 misses?

Got a feeling they may have missed a few between 98 and early 2000's, perhapes early 90's as well. But all up not too many, I was a betting man I would say 5 or 6.

Thanks BB.

Well Barker by plenty, good percentage booster and confidence booster for the young ones. Block to lead the way and get a nice 3 votes.
Blackwood by 8 goals, after reading the almighty Courier, sounds as though they are looking forward to a very successful year, with Sidebottom best on.
Uraidla by ten goals, just too good. Simon Ebert a roughie for the mail medal this year, really liked him last year and will watch the best players with interest. That said, S Ebert for the 3.
OV by a few goals, still waiting to see these very well-paid players from TV make an impact, and if they do, there could very well be some upsets during the year. Klun for best, quality player that would be nice to have in the Roos outfit.
Hard to go against Lofty after last week, but we will see how the Raiders go for the remaining games of the year, tipping a close one at the tiny IB oval, and Lofty by 3 goals, Petersen-Grey BOG with 35+ touches and 4 goals.

Bridgewater vs Mt. Barker - As we all seem to think - Mt. Barker by alot, 18 goals. I'd say more but bridgey can be difficult to play on.

Hahndorf vs Blackwood - Blackwood by 4 goals.

Lobethal vs Uraidla - Uraidla, I also agree that the margin won't be as big as previous beatings, 50 points.

Torrens Valley vs Onkaparinga Valley - Onkas, hard to know yet with TV. Maybe a 7 goal win to the Dogs.

Ironbank vs Mt Lofty - Mt Lofty, agreed that it should be match of the round. The Devs might struggle with the smaller ground but White should kick enough to get the Devs home by 35 points. No excuses needed, Silky.

Hahndorf versus Blackwood (09/04/11) results -

A-Grade - Blackwood : (8. 9- 57) defeated Ironbank : (7. 13 - 55)

Blackwood had a four goal lead mid-way through the final term. Then Hahndorf kicked 4 goals and a couple of behinds to get in the lead. With only about 1 minute to go a Blackwood player (Brad Jones) got a free kick on the half-back line at the club-room end for a holding the ball . A 50m was then paid (I think for not returning the ball properly). As Jones went to kick the ball into the forward line, the Hahndorf player jumped over the mark and another 50m was paid. With the mark moved to 30m-directly out in front, Jones took his time and calmly slotted the goal. The ball went back to the centre and Blackwood cleared it and a mark was taken on the 50m arch and then siren went. Blackwood wins by 2 points

B-Grade - Blackwood defeated Hahndorf - not sure of final score

Blackwood had a good start, with Hahndorf coming back and holding the lead until late in the last when Blackwood kicked a couple goals. Then in the last minute of the game, on the change-room side of the ground, a Hahndorf player was going up for a mark and a Blackwood player came charging through taking him out. A free-kick and 50m was awarded. But with the Hahndorf player down on the ground injured there was some-conjecture on who would take the kick. During this time the siren blew. After further discussion a Hahndorf player (young Antonio Tripodi) was given the kick. He took his time and lined up the shot, with the wind blowing over his left shoulder he needed to aim at the left goal post. He took this kick and it started on the right-goal post, and the wind took it away for a behind. Blackwood wins by a couple of points.

17's - Blackwood defeated Hahndorf – not sure of final score but it was about 9 goals.

15's - Not sure

13's - Not sure
