Apparently he had a sore throat.
Harrys post match interview didn't throw any light on it either.

35 mins after the game he still didn't know what was wrong with Lennon????

I thought they said in the commentary that it was a hamstring strain during the warm-up?! Not 100% sure though.
Definitely had an effect on everything, unsettling the team and all.

Not sure on the single handedly there Pidge, but a bit hard to beat RM with 10 men. Haven't seen the yellows but junior BF had no complaints and he is a tough judge at times. Looks like I will have to jump on the MU bandwagon, certainly couldn't support the west london (russian) team.

They were pretty similar tackles, both worthy of yellow cards IMO. Missed the ball on both occasions by miles.
Well being down to 10 men for about 70 minutes of an away leg, that's pretty stupid IMO. He's an experienced player and should know better than to fly in with challenges like that. Especially being on a Yellow card.
Definitely not jumping on the Man U bandwagon..
Schalke on the other hand... SOME darkhorse in this competition!

United win 1-0

Shocking penalty missed by the ref on 91mins
Evra on Ramires absolute stone wall which brings the question what is the point of the goal line assistant.

Even if the ref didn't have a clear view the goal line assistant did. If thet aren't there to call a clear penalty then why are they there at all.

United have never lost CL tie when they have led in the 1st leg and you can't see them losing this tie so at least we will have one English side in th semi finals. Come on United

Rooney scores yet again! I can't believe we actually beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, we have a terrible record against them especially at that ground.

Nice dive by Torres as well but the Evra tackle was a clear penalty, I don't think the ref saw it though so it was probably up to the assistant to call it.

I wonder if Petr Cech will acknowledge that we beat them this time after he said we 'didn't really' beat them in the 08 Final??

Good to see United take care of business away from home. Obviously had a bit of luck with the goal line clearance and the non-penalty call but in the refs defence I don’t think Chelski (Torres) made it any easier for him by going down rather easily in the box on a couple of occasions.

Great win for united, lets finish it at home now. Rooney in great form just shows how silly he was to get suspended, hes in a real purple patch and i hope the suspension doesnt harm him.
Definate penalty missed, should have been assistants call so we dodged a bullet there. Torres absolute joke and waste of money, lets bury the chavs ib the return leg

Just saw the highlights, and a pretty bad dive and by Torres, really felt for him =)) =)) :))

Rafael trying to take Drogba down was pretty amusing too

Will Roman ever learn to stop running the team? You watch those highlights and at least Drogba looked dangerous and willing .. Torres just looks completely devoid of any touch whatsoever. (spewing I used up my smiley limit)

Yep Roman is a tool. Chelski should be the best team in europe but he just keeps getting in wrong. Ancelotti and torres gone by seasons end id imagine. With Real Madrid once again flopping in the league and possibly going for its 4th straight trophyless season maybe the special one might jump ship back to the chavs

I reckon Ancelotti will be gone, but I don't think Torres will be - It's the Schevchenko situation all over again - Having craved his services for years and then finally landing them, I don't think Roman will give Torres up quickly.

If indeed it is his aim to hold onto him, I wonder if that makes Drogba amenable to a move for the right offer?

Is Anelka out injured at the moment?

No he came on to replace Drogba. Should have taken Torres off and played with Drogba and Anelka up front.

I've never rated Anelka as a special player, but I think he was doing a helluva lot more than Torres has

Chelsea look a hell of a lot better when anelka and drogba play together. Anelka serves a role that torres cant.

I have a feeling that the second leg of the Man United v Chelsea match will be high scoring.
I'm going to tip a 3-2 Chelsea win..

C'MON Chelsea!

United win 2-1.

Drogba dragged Chelsea back into the game for maybe a minute (if not less)... great reply by United with Park scoring. Giggs was immense setting up both goals.

Ancelotti will surely be sacked now, why he started Drogba on the bench I do not know. Even though it is likely that Roman requested that Torres played.

A good home performance by Utd to get thru 3-1 on aggregate.

I thought Rooney was MOTM for mine. Was in everything and didn’t misplace a pass. Giggs shows once again what value he still is to Utd. 3 quality assists over the 2 legs, would love to see him play till he is 40. And of course the “Little pea” Hernandez continues his unbelievable goals to shots ratio…was unlucky not to have 2 due to being about half a cm offside.
