well i thought south was pretty good for most of the first half & when the eagles lifted their intensity & run south went missing in that third term, at lemon time south regrouped & into the last south rallied & had a crack but the know how of the wiser heads got the eagles their win.......amazingly south 'won' 3 of the 4 quarters so they can take something positive out of this game & no doubt can give north a run for their money next week, does anybody know how bad treeby's injury is ? i thought mckenzie was wwt's best with raymond, lewis, fitzgerald, & cicolella who was directing the traffic as per usual, for south wundke was very good up forward from limited opportunities with 4 goals, stribling, liddle, cockshell bobbed up & young irra showed some spark early on

Disappointing to lose after start we had and who the Eagles had out.

Fuller summed it up perfectly "We could say that we found our way again and toughed it out in the last quarter but I'm sick of that.'' Let's start winning some games not just winning first halves.

Some of the new recruits looked more than handy, so hopefully can gel quickly.

15 point margin was the greatest margin of the weekend.

Average margin over the 4 games was less than 10 points.

Spelly, were any records nudged by the above?

Eagles played 1 qtr of footy other then that south was the better side. Good signs for both clubs. chris Hall is a very good pick up for us. Christian Bock is still a fairway off been a back up ruckman
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Score was
EG 10-11
SA 8-1
I reckon it was Nathan Rayner who had the ball between wing and half forward
He was looking for an option up forward
Justin Cicollella the mercurial one, was yelling out incessively for Rayner to kick the ball slightly backwards and sideways to himself
Raynor didnt know what to do
Several times Cicolella yelled out for a pass
Eventually Raynor short passed to I reckon it was Fitzgerald who marked
Cicolella ran up to Raynor
and
and
and
called him a good boy !
Justin your a beauty !
Great to see

Another legendary figure at the club is Ernie
Ernie was seen to be fetching the footy after goals were kicked behind the goals at the Findon end of the ground during the 2nds game

Good standard game
EG were great in the 3rd term
Poor SA could not get the ball of em for about 15 minutes, and several goals
Takeaway the 3rd qtr and the scores were SA 10-3 WWT 5-8

47 for SA only had a few touches
But looks the goods
Im tipping if he dosent play he will be IRRAplaceable

WUNDKE
Had 3 goals about halfway thru the first qtr
I did the sums at that rate he would score his 100th goal in the 2nd qtr of his 5th game at the club

WT top 3 team
SA looked better then last years team, have a good midfield

At player presentations after the game .Coach said we only played 20minutes of good footy the other 100 werent so good. But this game last year we lost this year we won by 15 points .We will take the win !!

From my own point of view eagles did nothing until about the 10minute mark of the second quarter .From this point on Eagles clawed their way back into the game. And then had a great 3rd quarter.Withstood South coming back in the fourth for the win .
Skipper and VC were clearly the best players for the eagles .After that any number of players could be pencilled in. Raymond(yes another ex bays player come to the fortress ;) ) moved up to full forward kicked a couple .And combined with the returning Chris Hall in a great passage of play resulting in a goal in the 4th quarter. Both showed signs they have something to build on .As did many other eagle players .

And a win is a win ;)
Nice to see Eagles depth worked in round 1 big name players out injured youngsters performed well :D

Perhaps this should have been promoted a bit more (easy to say in hindsight), because there have been only three matches with a greater crowd since 1995:

Rd 6 2005: 2388
Rd 7 2000: 2339
Rd 1 2001: 2339
Rd 1 2011: 2337
Rd 19 2001: 2309

Amazingly last time we got more than 2,400 to an Eagles v South game at Woodville was 1995.

Also average crowd at last 5 Woodville Oval games ... Eagles v South was under 1700 so there was some concern we could start the year with something below 2000.

That said the figure should have been higher than that average given it was a Sunday, the opening round, great weather, no Crows or live TV telecast .....

.... and we had the "ruler" giveway for the kids :D

Both poorly attended clubs sono real surprise in fact I thouught it was an OK crowd for these two.

Probably best I don't commment on the crowd pulling Ruler . ;) Should be big next time though I have heard a protractor is on offer ?
