When a team gets washed out while fielding that teams keeper gets no votes while every other teams that play or fielded the week prior pick up votes. Likewise when a team has the bye and other teams get washed out you can effectively catch up votes. It doesn't equal out and the easy answer is to do average votes per game for keepers playing over say 5 games. Not as big a deal for fielders or bradman medal as not every player gets voted on each game unlike keepers.
An excellent point actually. Never thought of it. An average over the games is a very good way to do it. You are right, as sometimes a wicketkeeper might not be in action for a month through rain and fielding last, although this summer is clearly the wettest I can remember and unlikely to happen again. Whilst like the Brownlow medal and Magarey medals, I think we place too much emphasis on the voting of the umpires. I know we need them to have a game (as per all sports). Cricket unlike Football, is influenced by rain and conditions and voting is often not entirely accurate, when basing it on the rest of the games in the competition, when some clubs play and others are washed out. These ideas are making too much sense and make for good discussion and that means that the SACA would never consider them however. (If if makes too much sense at the SACA, then disregard the idea or debate and do something 180 degrees from conventional or reasonable discussion)

Davo, I hope you are not forgetting that every player gets voted on each game, be it the Bradman or the Talbot or the Charlie, agree with the umpire bit, but under the average rule, if Manou (just for example) plays 5 games and gets the best average, does he win the Charlie. Of course there will be huge anomolies, but take the winner this year, missed a game due to wedding in the family, so in fact his average goes up. Not sure they will be the perfect answer, but I guess the umpires will argue that they started the Bradman Awards, why change it.

on a sour note they have lost one of their most experienced
players to prospect. Chris "nugget" O'Connor is making the
move to prospect to open their A GRADE. They have been luring him
all year since his great mate delaney moved there last season.
good luck nugget don't play for turn against the stingray spinners
next season.

Not good news for a Stingray supporter. That would reduce us to just one "Nugget" in the club (Nicole "Nugget" Adams being the other one).
That reminds me, well done to the Stingray girls making the finals in their second A-Grade season. Old Joe's done a top job with them.
Meanwhile on the male Nugg ---- if Prospect indeed get him I hope he does a Kendrick --- go to the Pirates but back again soon.
