Rnd 2 - South v North @ Noarlunga (Sat N 9/4)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Apr 04, 2011 3:49 pm

An historic night with the first official night game at Noarlunga, no doubt it will be cold but at least you can stay in the car and listen to the call on RPH whilst parked around the ground.

Was impressed with 3 of 4 of the quarters South played on the weekend while North were good in their close loss to West.

I think South might actually get up in this game, a couple of former Roosters in Stribling and Wundke will no doubt be keen to play well against their former club.

South by a couple of goals in a close one I reckon.

The good news is, as reported in the Sunday Mail, the Panthers have booked the 36ers announcer, the Adelaide Oval PA system and have a "T20 style" atmosphere arranged with fireworks and dancing girls planned and are also catering for an anticipated crowd of 5000+...

not sure they will get the 5k crowd they are budgeting for but should get around half that.

If South play like they did for against the Eagles for the 1st half...they will win.

If they play like the 3rd 1/4 ..they will not.

Im sure the side would be aware of the mistakes of the 3rd 1/4.

They looked really sharp against the Eagles and with this being the 1st night game at home South will be hell bent on getting their 1st win.

South by 4 goals. ;)

Not sure about the cold Phil, night time in Adeliade this time of year is coolish not much difference at Noarlunga particularly at night and near the sea. However this will be a good game, Allaway & Gill being the difference between the teams, if young Panther defence can hold those two with the new look South midfield having the ability to cut the supply then South are in with a very good chance, if not, North too much marking power up forward.

Mate...there you go...having a go at South but when people have a go at Port or anything related you get your tissues out and have a cry.

You would have better fun at a South game then a Port game at AAMI anyday!!!

Your the last one who should be commenting on low crowd numbers Booney.

Well within the realms of possibility that South get 5000+ this week. West did last year for their first night game, and their crowd numbers are usually not much better than South's befor lights.

Take some ear plugs to dull the the awful PA noise though.

For anyone who does not believe in Darwins theory of evolution, they only need sit with the cheer squad for a quarter or so and they'll be convinced Darwin was spot on the money.

As MP said earlier. Embarrassing now.

I go to Magpie games and Power games, probably miss 5-8 of the combined 30+ games the teams play. I miss about 2 or 3 Power games ( due to Team Managerial duties of my sons U16 team ) and the odd Magpie away game ( like South and Central games ). I do my bit. Member of both, season ticket holder of both.

I do my best on here to defend the club and the bulk of our supporters but of the 23,000 that go each week I would say that 21,000 go every week and there is 2-3,000 "swingers".

The thing that shits me the most is that everyone else continually knocks the clubs efforts to produce betetr crowds, offer more "entertainment" ( the footy is enough for me ) and all I get on here is people constantly crapping on about " do it this way - do it that way " etc etc. Truth be known, there is no hard and fast answer to the problem and a move to Adelaide Oval may prove to be the answer, maybe not. Me, I dont know anymore....all I know is, I do my bit.

I laughed at the fact that despite Booney being such a dedicated Magpie fan, he has only just learnt what we all knew for years. That the Port cheersquad are a bunch of rock apes.

This is the $10,000 game I think.

Go to Colonades and fill in the entry form and at half time they ring you and your at the ground you win (I think thats how it goes)

I thought he did well . Played in defence. Did not get alot of possessions but his defensive work (spoiling, being accountable) was very good.
He did his job well.

Should be a regular player for South this year. :)
