I'm not guilty of anything. I don't think the guy is an AFL footballer ... is that okay with you, or do I need your approval to say it? If I posted the crap you do, I wouldn't be criticising others.

Hang on Interceptor... If you haven't played at least grade cricket in South Australia, you are obviously unfit to have a discussion with AH...

I wonder how many out of contract players GWS will be able to sign if GCs result is anything to go by?

History shows they will win a couple of games, but after tonight, I really have no idea how or when.
How coad didn't get a game has got me stuffed. Thornton kicked four goals for god sake. Coad needs to play and than have hunt on a third tall, or tape on a third tall.

Give some of their kids time in the gym, time to get used to the pace and time to see first hand the work required for AFL, and they will be a fair side in time. Charlie Dixon presented hard on the lead and showed some good nous and agility, along with good conversion. Harley Bennell has some real class about him and the ability to place himself in the spots, finishing is also good for this stage of his career. Dion Prestia is also the sort of player who finds space and uses it well, while David Swallow will be a very, very good player once he gets over being heavily tagged each week and knocked around until they get bigger bodies in there to help protect him. Zac Smith is the sort of player that will be excellent also, as he learns more about the game. He has only been playing for 12 months, but showed a real instinct early on.

Actually thought it was some of their experienced players that got shown up tonight. Jared Brennan made some awful mistakes, Campbell Brown was close to non-existent, and Gary Ablett's final stats of 23 disposals is awfully misleading. At times, he burnt it horribly and while he was heavily tagged, his decision making at times was dreadful.

Far too early to make any calls on Karmichael Hunt, he positioned himself well, but is still learning the game. Not much wrong with disposal by foot, what there was of it. Daniel Harris, on the other hand, was brilliant all night for them, a real shining light.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Couldn't believe Seb Tape lined up on Thornton, the kid has the build of a matchstick. Surely Coad to come in next week.

just got back from the game, biggest disapointment were the three B's, Bock, Brown and Brennan. No problems with the kids having a crack and getting done by better oposition, thats how you learn to play the game and we had a lot of kids tonight. but the leadership by senior players was a disgrace. Well done to Carlton not taking the foot of the gas and well done to Chris Judd 200 games.

yeah i know. Coad would have been a far better match up on Thornton, although Tape and Hunt were severly let down by the midfield

Brennan and Brown i agree with (although Brown on betts, would never have the pace to keep up with him).
Bock and Brown had the ball in there a truck load, so always going to be hard. The midfield was a worry, Ablett was poor (worst game in 3 years), Harris good, Swallow is going to be a gun, just time they need. But this year, big big big strife

No, you don't need my permission to continue your "I wish it was the good old days" flavoured posts.
You credit yourself greatly with outstanding knowledge of the SANFL history, but are very transparent in your dislike of just about all things AFL and need little reason for a cheap shot. I certainly wouldn't defend everything the AFL does, but accept the reality that they are out to take risks and grow the Australian game nation wide. It seems conservative football followers don't share that vision and love to whinge about it.

Back on topic...
Hunt certainly struggled against the onslaught of a likely top 8 side and his selection is questionable, considering Coad was available.
The experienced Harbrow wasn't a great deal better.
Ablett was poor when they needed him the most at the start.
The list of criticisms could go on for a belted side.

Carlton were always going to win.
Starting the Suns with a bye wasn't the smartest move really, with their opponents hardened with a match already under the belt.
They'll probably finish bottom, get flogged several times and take time to gel.
It's been predicted they will be a power in a few years and that'll probably be true.
Guess that won't stop some knee-jerk reactions through their difficult initiation year though.
