One of the more enjoyable games I've seen over the past few years. Both teams having a crack and playing attacking footy. If anything I thought West possibly shaded North over the match, but well done to both teams. Better than that AFL poop.

Both played a long kicking game with little or no flooding ;) . For Westies to score over 100 points is a dramatic improvement from last year, hopefully this style will continue throughout the year.

here, here,

the umpire interprepatitions allow the players to play as men and play within the spirit of the game which encourages the players to be the first to the ball.

Daniel Motlop was excellent for North. Also Teasdale was very good and it was good to see Nick Gill kick straight. Good game of footy.

North lost Fenton in the 3rd qtr with a nasty injury and was taken to hospital and that man down possibly made the difference towards the end as West were just that bit stronger to come from behind after North hit the front on the 22 minute mark.

Good to see North kick more than 10 goals too. Our defense looks a bit shaky and we didn't make the most of our superior inside 50 count but at least we played a bit more attacking footy.

Cracker of a game, however I thought there were some interesting "umpire interpretations" in that 2nd quarter.

For me, best for west was Schmidt for his 4 quarter effort and Ezard was pivotal in the last quarter after a quiet day. For North, Ivens off half back and young Teasdale were impressive.

Thought Collins was slow in taking Fisher off Gill, who must have had a foot in height on him. Great game, pleasing to see attacking footy and no flooding.

I thought that was an odd match up when you consider we had Ferg (played on Alleway), Hartlett, Thompson and Sylvestor in the side

Very good game of footy, North had their chances to win the game in the end but it was a very even contest.

Agreed, I reckon this bloke Teasdale's got a big future. Might be wrong but I thought a couple of his efforts through centre went unrewarded due to West's backline reading the oncoming play better.

FWIW, I like the way F. Caruso goes about his footy as well.

Discipline perhaps a bit of an issue for West in the first half, better composure in the second.

Oh, noticed redandblack in full voice after the match. ;)

To both sides, great to see an open game of footy where players had the opportunity to show their skills. Westies won because of their game plan to have 2 players heading into the centre area unchecked when the ball was in North's forward line, they scored a number of goals via that avenue. was a great game of footy, North had the opportunity to win but some bad kicking for goal cost them. Still plenty of postives for both sides to take out the game, and on one note, if Daniel Motlop doesnt want to play for the NAFC when he isn't in the Power lineup, he didnt show it today, kicked 5 gave out 2 or 3 others and was superb, dont think we will have him much longer.

If we went and saw that type of footy each week we would all be happy I reckon

4 qtr effort. I thought he got a bath in the first half, but had a good 2nd half.

Great game of footy, although the wrong team won. What were peoples thoughts on the Alleway v Ferguson duel. I thought it was great. Best CHF v CHB in the comp. Reluctantly, I have to give Ferguson this round 10-9, only because West came out on top, and Allers dropped a couple of marks he should have taken. If the next North v West game isn't on the ABC, I might have to fly down to see it.

Yep agree, talk about a clash of the big lads and body on body, Allers could have come away with the points but missed a couple of goals he would normally bottle and as you pointed out dropped a few marks, great battle though but there were a number all over the ground today, grass roots footy, yes ;)

Great call, great to see 2 captains going at it. Thought Alleway won the duel in the first half, with Ferguson bouncing back in the 2nd half. For me, Alleway just ahead in the match up. A credit to him as Ferguson is rarely beaten

I thought fergusson just shaded it, although Alleway dropped two marks inside 50 that he should have held onto. Had he marked and kicked 3 more goals then it appear he won his duel.
