Great that we haven't won the shield since this time.

I saw parts of that match and really enjoyed it. Particularly Gilchrist's batting.

I was unable to attend the final day. Was working part time at Fasta Pasta at the time. I had the ABC on my walkman and wouldn't let them open the door to customers un til the match had been decided. What an amazing climax.

Anyone else want to share their memories of the last time we were champions of this nation?

I can remember being there that day. Greatest draw in history!!
And if u see thee footage of all the people rushing the ground from where the chappel stand is now, u can see me out in front. I got a stump but some old dude ripped it out my hand. So i got a bail and i lost it on the way home. Doh!!

Remember the last day well. I was deckying on our family crayboat and was stuck at Point Sir Isaacs over here on the West Coast. We were anchored right near the lighthouse if any of you are familiar with the Coffin Bay Natinal Park, beer in hand listening on 891. I was that nervous I was turning the radio off for a few minutes at a time, hoping when I turned it back on we were still batting. After the last ball we all converged onto one boat and had a we won the shield party at sea!!

I was in Year 10 at school and took my walkman to class and listened to it in there, got busted quite a few times but never got my walkman confiscated... one of my mates was in all my classes and he also had a walkman too, whenever something exciting happened we would let out a cheer which was pretty funny. A few teachers didn't mind, a few had no idea about cricket.

Me and a mate took the day off school (about Yr 10 I think). Was a great day and amazing to see the crowd build up towards the end of the match when everyone came from work. Every ball was so exciting. Dots had never been cheered so hard!

I can remember WA thrashing us for 5 days and we still won

Just a bit of controversy
A couple of knowledgeable people [not MT79 or BAYMAN] told me that
with about 6 overs to go Brad HOGG had a bat pad caught close to
the wicket and the appeal was turned down.

SA were 7 wickets down at tea
and were 9 wickets down with 15 overs to go [?]

I was there what a dramatic finish.

As a West Aussie my memories of the game are not quite as fond as those of you blokes
I was watching the closing stages on TV.

The whole match was telecast live to Perth.

My main memory is of Brendon Julian bowling the dying overs to Peter McIntyre and another bloke and trying desperately to take the last wicket. I remember saying to myself 'Give Tom Moody a bowl'. I felt Big Tom could have got us (WA) the wicket to win the match.

Terrific game though.

I think you'll find Webber had a lot of problems with his eyesight that affected his batting.

That's right. I did forget that. He had a ton of ability though. At his best he was very good to watch.

I was there saw the last two hours after finishing the day at TAFE. I rember it because we had a tour of the Grand Hotel down at Glenelg an i was the only one going.

Good days them. Lazy days at the cricket after a lecture or two.
Potsy Webber - great bat and great bloke to boot. Should have averaged mid 40s as opposed to mid 30s.
From memory I think his knees were pretty dodgy which led to his premature retirement.
One of my fondest memories was watching him absolutely spank Shane George all over Uni #1. George was an angry young man that day and kept on bowling shorter and shorter and getting hit further and further.
