Personally I think it is time for the Standard to find a new reporter. When is he going to stop getting off talking about the weight of footballers. He might find it funny but it is actually insulting and unnecessary. The report on Peake and Tailem was a disgrace. Both of these clubs are busting their arses to become competitive in their respective leagues. Crap reporting like this is no help at all. Why not promote country football in a positive and constructive manner?

I for one don't understand where the benefit or reasoning behind bagging a player like Clive Waterhouse stems from. Here's a player with a wealth of experience, promoting and endorsing the league more than that 'little rag' he's selling, just by turning up to games. What a club like Mannum, Tailem Bend or Jervois decides to do with their earnings is their prerogative. Clive's in his 3rd or 4th year so you'd think the power-brokers at Mannum would have balanced the pros and cons of him being there and there's obviously great benefit in that.

Must be making up for his own size problem. I also do not understand what benifits come from bagging players and clubs in the local rag. Its not only poor form it is rubbish. How about publishing something that is promoting the new players and previous stars of the leugue rather than just talking teams and players down. Pretty poor form i think.

Hit the nail on the head Goldy. I look forward to reading Dalwood every week despite not agreeing with alot of the stuff he writes. Some times I think he gets the bite he is after. The key is to not take the trash talk too seriously and have a bit of fun with it.

By the way, The Murray Valley Standard is a fantastic read, I would recommend it to you all. ;)

Tough first round to tip. For what it is worth

Rambers 11-20
Jervois 31-40
Meningie 21-30

If Meningie cannot beat Imperials tomorrow they never will. Imperials are very undermanned for a lot of reasons. If Shane Collins can get the boys over the line it will be a great first up win for the new coach.

Anyone heard results on jervois mypo game?

Went out to see the Imperials game and have a mullet sandwich and to my suprise there was to things better than meningie -- Imperials and also those tasty mullets,
. Imperials looked well drilled and I heard they were missing names like girdiham honner z.Kenny Edwards Mobbs

So will be good to see how they will go with them back they beat meningie by 10 goals

Biff Boy. Have no doubt the Mannum coach and players know Ramblers are a decent side and club and respectful of the fact but enjoyed having a win today.
If you think that after losing a GF to them last year that some supporters wouldnt make the most of the win today then I reckon your view of how supporters should behave is a bit skewed maybe.
So who actually is the over paid bunch of knobs? The crowd who pissed you off by bagging you or the players who played well enough to beat the Ramblers side on the day?
Anyway lucky your post was well informed and not infected by any sour grapes.
See you in a couple months.

Super effort by an undermanned Blues team. Adam Davey looks like he will be a real star. Very athletic who can really jump. Cant remember seeing a better performance from a ruckman since the great Brett Lienert. Meningie were very disappointing. They are going to have to find something very special really soon if they want to compete against the better sides.
Even at this early stage it looks like the top three sides will be unchanged. It just depends on the finishing order.
The Imperials Vs Jervois game this week will determine how big the gap to the second tier teams really is. For the sake of the competition I hope it is not too great.

Noticed Ricky Hunter's name missing for Mannum on the weekend, is he still playing there.
I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. I can't put it down.

Geez watching Benbow on the weekend made me wonder why Meningie kept him. He is one of the most selfish blokes going around and cannot kick to save himself. His own teammates were even abusing him on the weekend.
