Biggest crowd involving a non Victorian team only eclipsed by the opening match and on the same footing as Geelong/Saints and Bombers/Bulldogs.
Probably would have got 10k less at Adelaide.

News Flash: People obviously want to go to Footy Pk

Good to see an article in the paper today with legitimate concerns and not the usual Rucci crap that gets the sheep in. Didn't get the front page exposure that Rucci pushes but an improvement none the less.

My names not REB and you're right that it doesn't have anything to do with any political preference, if the Libs had offered a hacked up Adelaide Oval with a hospital in the worst possible spot and Labor had offered a new oval I would have voted Labor, I really don't care. Also would have voted nationally for Labor if Rudd was still in charge, the parties are irrelevent to me.

Just because 45k Crows fans went to Footy Park for Rnd1, doesn't mean the place isn't a shite hole.

Just because its a shite hole doesn't mean its a worse option than Adelaide Oval.
In fact a shite hole would be a huge upgrade on any version of Adelaide Oval.

All piss weak reasons Dutchy, especially the "views obscured". How retarded are some people, who pay money to look at the hills.

But this one is the best.

"4. The fact that SACA’s tenure and use of the Oval will be limited to five months and one week of the year (mid-October to mid-March), which will preclude South Australia from ever hosting the Sheffield Shield final."

Firstly it is speculating. Secondly, even if true, history says it's not something SACA really have to worry about.

Funny how we didn't hear much complaining when it was suggested Shield games get moved to the Bay.

Well said, totally agree.

A big fat NO vote from this member.

Nup, this one is best:

"13. At a cost of $535M Adelaide goes from having two stadia to one. Where is the logic in that? The two stadia concept is generally preferred by all the stakeholders. Irrespective of the competing views about AAMI Stadium, it is at least adequate for the time being and will remain adequate until a purpose-built second stadium for football can be afforded. There may well be a case for football to be played in the city, but at a dedicated football stadium, not at the most beautiful cricket ground in the world! The proposed Adelaide Oval redevelopment is a grossly expensive, unnecessary and retrograde compromise of the two stadia policy."

I love the Adelaide Oval. I've got a say in keeping it beautiful, and mainly for cricket. Geez I hope all the cricket lovers come to the fore in this vote. Then we can vote in the election for whoever wants to build a proper footy stadium in the future.

I guess the members have got what they want, so screw the rest. Sad to see that once again, a vocal minority in Adelaide fail to see the big picture.

Maybe the vocal minority can see the bigger picture, a 2 stadia town, why the rush all of a sudden to cram 2 sports into one stadium?

Yes sad indeed that our generation and more importantly our kids generation will not have access to see our sporting teams in a world class sporting venue in the heart of the city because of the anti-progress nazi's

Why have 2 stadia sit idle for 6 months of the year. The MCG, SCG and GABBA manage to cram 2 sports into one stadium. The MCG even throws in a couple of other sports now and then. Not sure what the problem is there Dutchy.

2x stadiums wont happen in our lifetime. IT'S now or nothing people, think about it!!!
skycity will take their 250 mil elsewhere, if our sad state knock yet another development on the head. We are a laughing stocK because of the NO voters! simple. MOVE FORWARD and do what's right for Adelaide.
it's not just the oval in question, it's the whole Torrens precint. Think about your kids and no your aging stubborn selfishness!

Don't see the point either reducing 2 stadia to 1. With the rise of the AFL's necessity to have a pre season competition it forces the two sports to overlap more and more. Perth has discussed for ages about the next generation Football stadium and the WACA and their ground have stayed well out of the equation. Why should Adelaide downsize to 1 Stadium? It is this type of thing that when one sport or the other would like to gain early access to the stadium that will make us the laughing stock of the nation and be a backwater for only having the one venue for 2 major sports

All Football want is the location and crush the other into the oblivion because 40 years ago they couldn't co habit the very same venue and moved to a difficult location. No sympathy for the SANFL from me because you chose the wrong location and can't convince the public purse to help you out with decent public transport options to service your stadium
