Cracker of a game last night, Aldinga's As looked very fit and competitive in comparison to previous years. I only caught about half the game (five minutes here, five minutes there, owing to looking after a screaming baby all night) so couldn't keep track of the score, but just from the bits I saw I'd be guessing the Sharks were home by at least 5 goals. The boys worked really well as a team and it's all looking positive for the season ahead. :D

Aldinga massive improvement this year.

Have become at least 10-15 goal better side.

Fit, good mix of new recruits, keen.

Good luck in 2011 lads.

Colonel Light Gardens. Both teams had a good hitout, well behaved on and off field, Lights came on for last few quarters and yellow footy, nice to get some better lights for night games although was still ok, as population grows should happen.

haha I meant to write 'fifteen goals' not 5, the number one button on my computer isn't working, f***ing crumbs in the keyboard again.

Yeah it's all looking positive! There was a good crowd out there last night too.

was down there to have a look friday night also. very, very (did I mention very) improved side from 2010. Lots of new faces that were keen to play for the jumper and you could see the hunger from the players that have stuck around.
I will be keen to see how they go against a top 4 side from last year to see where they are really at. But, some very promising signs at Shark Land :)

I reckon Brad would prefer if everyone waited for results instead of people in Aldinga talking themselves up yet again before the seasons even started.

It is always dangerous for any team to talk themselves up before the season actually starts. Some coaches would prefer that nothing was said at all. However the fun of being a supporter is enjoying talking up your own team which shouldn't be lost after all we do play and watch footy because it is fun, we just need to be carefull how much we say.

The Sharks have only played one preseason game against an A6 side which we won convincingly but it was not the fact that we won that has got supporters excited but the way that it was won. Last year we lacked in many parts of the game even when we were playing in a game that we should have won. The game against Colonel Light showed that we can overcome these problems against some sides which we could not last year. The real test will be when we come up against teams in our own league.

The juniors, U14's and U16's, have both played two trial games each against Myponga, Hackham and Port Noarlunga. Both grades won all of their games convincingly and are looking greatly improved from the underperforming side that they were last year.

It was great to being playing footy under lights too. Getting lights at Shark Park good enough to host night games would go a long way in making footy far more popular in Aldinga.

Well said 1983 ;) I'm happy about the junior progress and it will be interesting to see their results.

Support is obviously required but respect is earnt, the league and posters on here have heard time and time again about Aldinga moving up and what not all I am saying is let the A grade do the talking with their performances as I know Brad would prefer that rather than people talking things up that they have no idea about. We all know to well it is a massive hill to climb. Any improvement is obviously great but lets not get ahead of ourselves as some seem to do, one day at a time mate.

Aldinga Sharks senior sides play Nairne - Bremmer in a trial game this Saturday at Shark Park. Reserves kick off at 12, A Grade kick off at around 2PM. Bar open from 12, meals open at 5:30
Make your own mind up how we're travelling.

Bar and kitchen have had a makeover/renovations so come along for a beer and watch the Sharks last trial before round 1 at home vs Marion 2nd April.

Good game today - Sharks look very promising. The As got up over Nairne by about ten goals; I reckon the Bs won as well but not sure how much by, rocked up halfway through. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I am very hopeful of next week's outcome... [-o< ;)

Just looking at your draw first 4 games at home, with a real possibility of being 3-1 before you play reynella, looks like it could be a big year for dingy.
marion, morphy park, hackham, and cove, cove is the only one i didn't mark down as a win. I'm sure thats what you guys would mark down after your strong pre season form. any night games this year?

yeh mate. we're thinking along those lines. very positive.

a 3-1 start would be great for the club. we'll see how we go. what we're after just as much as beating the lower and middle teams, is being competitive with the higher teams.

All of this would be so great to see. As one who has a healthy respect for Aldinga ever since the golden Keam days I wish you all the best.
(PS- I also still have a very healthy respect for Keamy of course but would love to see you hit him with a reminder of what used to be)
