Assagio out at Newton is not bad but I've only been there twice with a mate and his Italian wife..
Jolley's food is good but a bit pricey unless it is on someone else's expense account..

Lets hear about your favourite restaurant and whether or not you regard the menu prices and wine list prices to be good, bad or indifferent. I'll lead with one example. For something different I'll often take my crew to Skillogalee in Sevenhill near Clare.
Beautiful setting, lovely local wine - the basket press shiraz is to die for and at $24 is a snip. However, you won't get a main under $34 and although the food is really nice, it aint worth that.

Pretty much the closest you'll ever get to a Sizzler set up in SA now (no cheesy bread though). You buy a main, and it includes the soup/bread/salad/vegetable/dessert bar. Quality of the food is fantastic for that sort of set up.

The steak was melt in the mouth, the Morton Bay bugs huge and although a costly exersice it was, and all 4 on the table agreed, as good a meal as you could possibly ask for. I'm happy to pay $40 for a steak and $20 for Bug entree if you get this sort of size bug! 3 of them as entree!!!

That's a safe move. Enough time to let the food poisoning settle in.

2 x Crumbed Chicken Breast stuffed with something bloody good, and a mega load of veggies, and a kick arse gravy all for the costly sum of $8

On the topic on all-you-can-eat, I went to Charlies Diner (the Paralowie one) about a month ago for Dad's 50th. Haven't been there for about 4 years, and now I know why. Place has gone real downhill. Quality of the food is quite poor, little variety, and the less said about the dessert bar the better.
