West Adelaide Great Southern Football League (SA) Munn, Simon Cancelled 17/02/11
West Adelaide Southern Football League (SA) Munn, Simon Pending 11/03/11

Better offer?

from all reports this bloke has been training the house down for the roosters, lets be honest wouldnt be the only time a players clearance has been cancelled. Is good mates with the Strathalbyn coach so doubt he will leave after committing to the club.

Good to hear.

Something wierd going on with the records/website:

GSFL clearances:

South Australia National Football League STRATHALBYN Munn, Simon Cancelled 17/02/11
Southern Football League (SA) STRATHALBYN Munn, Simon Pending 15/03/11

SFL:

South Australia National Football League HAPPY VALLEY Munn, Simon Pending 11/03/11

SANFL:

West Adelaide Great Southern Football League (SA) Munn, Simon Cancelled 17/02/11
West Adelaide Southern Football League (SA) Munn, Simon Pending 11/03/11

I'm sure it'll all come out in the wash.

I note this too:

South Australia National Football League MYPONGA - SELLICKS Sampson, Clay (c) Pending 15/03/11

Itchy feet!?

Cant wait for the season to start.... will be very interesting to see how the year goes.

My guess is he was last registered with Happy Valley as his home club so instead of getting a clearance from West he may need to get a clearance from Happy Valley and it seems he needs to be clared from West back to HV and then cleared onto Strath...bit unusual but that kind of looks like the situation.

Tiger83 wrote:I also noticed that on the SFL clearances... seemed odd to me too... He was a Happy Valley junior and i believe this is the club that he is gettin cleared to.. anyone know whats goin on there???

Before the world of Sportingpulse, juniors could go anywhere when they came off SANFL lists if their old clubs didn't keep track of them. eg The SFL has a rule that playing coming off the SANFL is meant to go back to their junior club, or get a clearance from that club at least. I can tell you, none of the ex Flaggies guys ever did

Since Sportingpulse the SANFL clubs have to apply to the grassrooots club for a permit to allow dual registration for both SANFL team and the grassroots club. Hence you will notice heaps of guys now listed as being cleared to SANFL clubs. These are really just permits, not transfers.

Therefore Westies have to release him off their SANFL list to allow Simon to be registered to play back in SFL, as he would not have been listed on any local clubs Sportingpulse list, having left the SFL so long ago.

Hope that makes sense ;)

I read on the SFL thread that the Messenger Cup match has been scrapped.
Anyone know why?

Maybe you should be asking someone from Strathalbyn, pretty piss weak if you ask me!
Considering both leagues have talked it up with articles in the local papers only about 2 weeks ago, had medals made up, etc.
Supposedly they only found out yesterday when the SFL rang the club to get a team list!

If that is true, Strathalbyn is a disgrace to the GSFL. The Messenger Cup games I have been involved in have been awesome fun and it will be a real shame if this puts the future of the event in jeopardy. History says that 66% of Messenger cup winners have gone on to win another flag and 100% of losers have not. Read in to that what you will.

P32, given a bit more notice Willunga would have been more than happy to step in and give you blokes a touch-up ;)

Grape Ape, how are your boys looking for the trial tomorrow? Will I get to see the great Mitch Portlock in action?

Yeah I know, I thought the same thing GA (about the game ;) ) but knew it was way too short notice as most teams try and set their trial games well in advance!
