See Gaza had a good win today by 20 goals.

Gaza cruised and looked a class above Modbury. I assume Modbury were pretty undermanned?

Gaza's good players were there ruckman #19 (who was massive), #2 at CHF (strong grab, kicked them from well outside 50), #11 at CHB and Stevo #20 in the middle. Merrett was everywhere but demanded the footy at times when he was out of position. With that shaved head of his, he almost scared his team mates into giving him the ball ;) Johnny Boxer moved well, just struggled to get his hands on it. Didn't look out of his depth though and once he finds his feet could do some damage with his pace on the wings out at gaza IMO

My spies tell me that the train line to the hills and down south has a few passengers on it and no one getting off at millswood station.

Never upset a great side before a season starts, it always comes back to haunt you ;)

Too true but awfully quite down that way and my inside source tells me that they have lost quite a few hopping onto the Noarlunga & Belair lines

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Remember you were given $2M so you could see the 2nd oval from the clubrooms ;)

Facts Ash Man, very short on them, the juniors also use Bulkana and Memorial and Modbury also use these two ovals as second ovals in consultation with TTG. Wish we did get 2M, might of meant we could have got furniture. The oval does get very wet in winter, mainly from centre square in south-west direction which is where the slope goes. All ovals with cricket pitches get boggy in winter and Henley is no exception, irrespective of what others try and say. The fact that the hills face get twice the rain that the plains get is the real reason for our oval being so wet in winter. If Henley got the rain the hills face did, it too would be slush.

Anyway, not that I have entered this debate, I don't give a s..t because i don't watch TTG play football, just cricket.

So where am I short on facts?
According to TTG Council the total was $1.46M, sorry I was way out :?
And you agree that Bulkana is used

Ash, 1.2 M, don't believe everything the council tells you and you cannot see the 2nd oval from the clubrooms unless you stand on the toilet seat inside the clubrooms or perch yourself on the griller and look through an exhaust fan. The debate was about Perti being a s..t oval and I was pointing out some facts as to why. I will disappear back to the cricket thread now.

And so they should being from Div 1, but don't let trial games fool you, not many big games won in March.

No one is being fooled. I just thought a div 2 club would have put up a bit of a better showing against a club only one division higher. I must admit I was only there to watch a couple of mates and haven't seen much of Gaza or any div 1 club for that matter. I was purely pointing out what I saw - and Gaza looked good

Does that mean they will do well this year, who knows?

Modbury fielded a side with only a handful of A Graders in it due to injury and availability. We have about 11 or 12 A graders coming back into the side before round 1. It was our first hit out and Jolly was just lookig to reward our younger lads who had done an entire preseason. Think we had 3 under 16's play in the side. Gaza seemed raring to go and a i think a few of them may have forgotten it was a trial game haha. . very keen to throw there weight around against a much younger and smaller side.

They did look sharp though, they will be a very decent side in Div 1 this year.

I heard Gepps X struggled early against an Eastern Park side consisting mainly of Under 18s before kicking away to win. Don't think the 2 clubs are in for big years.

Trial game form is always patchy, but a draw between a Div 1 side that seems to have lost a lot of players, and a Div 2 club on the way up, doesn't sound overly promising.

No idea how the actual game went however I believe that it was played in 4 seasons weather with the automatic spinklers coming on during the game

Yes we had a revisit of the 1978 night between Claremont & Hawthorn. Sprinkers came on at the start of the last qtr and no one could turn them off. They ended up playing around the square to avoid the sprinklers.

You think that something like that would have been taken care of by Kilburn if someone is going to hire your ground.

I thought Big Phil had his finger on everything that happens down there? or so he says

Yep, it'll be curtain raiser to the Easter Saturday game - but I think it might open age/Team of the Year..
