Cliffhanger finish to the season!

With teams desperate for points it will be interesting to see if there are a few declaration games where outrights are on the cards. With a one dayer in the last game this is your last chance to score the big points.

A +25 would be pretty handy around now.

They weren't too far away from Sturt last round.
My comment was more about Port than it was about ET from what i have heard they are getting a bit ahead of themselves down there.

I have spoken to alot of the boys and they are no way getting ahead of themselves!!

More so probably the supporters such as myself, that are hoping the boys can make the finals and shake it up a bit!
Been a long time since the club has been in decent positions and I think its fair that people want them to do well!

With the weather being pretty good this week, it will be interesting to see what sort of wicket gets dished up at Port Reserve tomorrow. ET's would fancy getting a further 200 with Cranmer, Dougall, Lehmann in their lineup and opener Webber in good form.

I'm making no suggestions whatsoever.
Just saying it will be interesting - if they still had Borthwick there would be temptations to make it dry and slow/spinning.
Will they go that way or will there be some grass on it?

On a good track I would expect East Torrens to get those runs.

East Torrens fell short all out 241 chasing 247.

Adelaide saved their behinds from a third straight outright defeat in a heated battle against Kensington. Questionable umpiring featured heavily through out the match and the Buffalo last wicket stand featured 2 injured players with each making 1* (39 balls) and 0* (30) respectively

I think this is right...?

1 - Sturt 160
2 - Woodville 160
3 - Port 117.5
4 - Kensington 115
5 - Tea Tree Gully 105

Round 13 Games of Interest
Sturt vs Port Adelaide
University vs Kensington
West Torrens vs Tea Tree Gully

Very interesting final round! Port and Kensy got the wobbles this game but got through unscathed in the end.

Pretty basic Clifo, if Port and Kensi win, all over, if one of them lose then the Bulls have to beat West Torrens. Glad it's a 1 dayer and prevents some captains doing some unusual things, probably the best decision SACA have made.

Good chase by the Gullies yesterday, looking set at 3/240, then panic set in and lost 4 for stuff all, young Travie Head and Cronin (for the third time this year), settled and got the bulls over the line in the second last over. Probably the scores don't reflect the batting of both sides, very slow outfield and probably on Park 25, both sides would have made 320-330. anyway it keeps us alive down to the wire. Must have been a close one at Port Reserve, ET looked like they were coasting with good batters in the shed.

Luke has had a bad back for a month, but is a fair bit better and will play this week. From what i heard great effort by the Adelaide boys batting at the end, both injured. Very good to tough it out, and also assisted Port to hold onto 3rd spot.

Was interesting to see an email from the club president at the start of this season saying that he "expected all grades to be contending for finals".
Perhaps a slight over-estimation of the playing stocks they have at Glandore.

Might be a while before they come back as there aren't many senior players that are going to be around next season.

Most of their teams (junior and senior) are in the finals, or are at least around the mark.

A's are the only ones struggling. They've been up the top for a long time though, can't stay there forever!

AFL club presidents expect that they will make finals as well. In the current Adelaide A Grade they would have 3 or 4 blokes with 30 plus games experience the rest less than 10 until this season. Injuries have not helped either and some have taken the easy option too. Perhaps some of the previous decisions by former coaches have come home to roost.

Some players in the side currently were involved with the Bank SA u/17 that finished 9th one year. The same core group went back the next year and won it. At the same time those players were scattered throughout the C/D Grade. The D's finished top by 45 points and won the GF also.

The other senior teams are well in contention for finals and Current Coaching Staff are extremely happy. Especially the D grade. They always get the left overs and to be in their current postion with part time players and ring ins. Just need the whole group to stick together and Adelaide

Correct TC, perhaps the only player left from the A Grade premiership several years ago is DC, but that is the changing face of Grade Cricket and all (most) clubs face the same issues over a period of time, players just do not play to the mid 30's as in the 80's early 90's. I have said before this is our 24/7 society, instead of the 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. SACA and the clubs have tried most things to try and keep the older players involved, but it just ain't happening, you only have to look at most clubs B, C and D Grade teams, they are very young and it seems the clubs that happen to retain the older players tend to finish up higher in those grades.
