Not far from time for the All-Star Five selection, this year's looks a bit easier than usual. Would think something like:

Gary Ervin (Woll)
Ayinde Ubaka (Cairns)
Julian Khazzouh (Sydney)
Kirk Penney (NZ)
Gary Wilkinson (NZ)

Thoughts from the regular NBL fans here?

I'd go:

Ubaka
Ervin
Penney
Clark
Khazzouh

Yes, that fifth spot is a tough one. I thought about Clark also, but just plumped for Wilkinson for his work on the boards this year. Could easily make a very good case for Clark also, though.

36ers coach Marty Clarke is back as an assistant coach with the Boomers replacing Shane Heal.

Talk about rewarding mediocrity, but then I guess Aurelio Vidmar got a promotion after taking Adelaide United to the wooden spoon.

Pretty sure Boti Nagy will be on Overtime tonight (Wednesday night). It's on Ten at 11:30pm & One HD at 11:40pm (oddly enough).

Sounds like Kirk Penney will be the guest on the show tonight and Boti will now be on next week's show.

Great. Another opportunity to watch the Kings surge toward the 100 point barrier against a team marking time for 2011.

The Friday night game, though, will be a cracker. Two teams fighting it out for a finals berth, should be a ripper.

36ers at least putting up a decent showing at half-time against the Kings after the dreadful performance last night in Wollongong.

Boti Nagy on Overtime tonight (supposedly).

Also the kings have re-signed coach Ian Robilliard and the Hawks have picked up the option on Oscar Forman's contract for next season.

Another night, another Sixers matchwinning lead coughed up :?

Up by 7 at 3/4 time, overrun by the Tigers again, to lose 79-76.

Becoming embarrassing, quite frankly.

The bright spot being 31 points, 13 rebounds and three steals to Daniel Johnson.

Across the country, Perth's Matthew Knight looks to have suffered a concerning neck injury against Townsville. He was driving to the basket when bumped off his shot as his head hit the court hard. Play stopped for around 15 minutes while he was being placed in a brace and taken off the court. Fingers crossed for the lad, it didn't look good at the time.

Former 36er listed player and Sydney King Ben Madgen has been ruled eligible for the Rookie of The Year award by the NBL, after an appeal by the Kings. Despite suiting for Adelaide 18 times, Madgen never played a minute with the 36ers, so common sense prevailed here.

Could be a unique situation looming here. If Adelaide win one more game than Sydney in the last two rounds, they can climb off the bottom, sending Sydney to the cellar. It is entirely possible that the Kings will have the amazing situation of finishing last, yet supplying the Rookie of the Year (Madgen) and the MVP (Julian Khazzouh). For the latter, can only see Gary Ervin (Wollongong) and Gary Wilkinson (New Zealand) seriously challenging him for MVP status.

IMO Khazzouh will beat out Penney & Ballinger. Shouldn't happen that a guy like Khazzouh could win the MVP coming from the wooden spoon team despite being the best player this season it should go to someone from a playoff team. The votes are given out after each game regardless if that player is from a good team or not and due to the lack of talent around him Khazzouh should be a shoe in.

I also think Penney will be up as the best player on the best team although missing the first 4-5 games of the season should rule him out of actually winning it and I think Ballinger will finish around 2nd or 3rd for similar reasons to Khazzouh. If my memory serves me correctly Ballinger was runner up for MVP last season even though the Sixers finished bottom.
