- Catching the train to National Park

- ....or to Colonnades, when the centre was first built.

- When entering a contest on TV was through filling out an entry form, not a SMS entry.

- Only having a handful of taxi ranks in the CBD, the primary one being outside Darrell Lea's on King William Street.

- Being in Rundle Mall BEFORE the Mall's Ball's were built (did people used to just meet on Beehive Corner in that case?)

- Rock Wallaby and Charlie Wombat.

Instead of dickhead or wanker people were called - Rabbits or peanuts.

My old man always used "Shutup ya' Rabbit" at the footy.

Yes that was the traditional meeting place - even in the days before Rundle St was a mall, and still had cars running through it.

Yeah my memory as a toddler was that the footpaths were absolutely packed.

Also remember when the mall was proposed there were lots of detractors saying it would be the death knell of the CBD as a shopping precinct!

- When pubs used to have live music as their focus, not how many pokies they could squeeze into every corner

- The smell of the brakes on the Red Hen trains. To this day, as soon as an old truck brakes near me, can immediately think of hot days on a Red Hen with the door open to keep cooler

- Lining up for concert tickets at the old ABC Shop in Gawler Place, and...

- Picking up the weekly SA-FM, KA-FM or ARIA Charts each week from Brashs across the street

- Wizz Fizz, pink lolly cigars and Candy Tabs.

- Buses being a route number then a letter - eg. I used to catch the 28L to my grandmother's after school, or the 29D to go home.

- Playing "Dukes of Hazzard" or "Cop Shop" in the playground at lunch - basically, chasing after each other, skidding on the dirt and hiding behind the old wooden forts in our school playground.

- The AMF Bowling promotions in school holidays..."For $6.50, you get two games, shoe hire, hot dog, fries and a coke"

- The giant picture in West Lakes Mall, just above where the old food court was, next to Venture, that showed the old surrounds.

- Being allowed to stay up to watch the Don Lane Show

People lining up to get tickets from Allan's Music back door. Sometimes the queue would extend down Frances St and then down Rundle Mall/Street.
When the Bay City Rollers toured the queue was huge and not one guy was in it. But plenty were hanging around trying to chat up the girls in the queue.

I saw A History Of Violence there with the Mrs in 2006 (IIRC) and there were only 2 other people in the cinema (and frighteningly they reminded me of Tom Hanks and his mate in the cinema in "Philadelphia", still scarred from it)
