MR QUINEY 17*[37] 2 fours and a zac, now made 28 off 122 balls this match !

Glen MAxwelL 63 run out [72] in the first dig, will he play the killer innings later today

VI lead by 176 runs
I reckon the par score chase would be 250
So SA need to take quick wickets

VI 5/129 and the sensational one comes to the crease
Glen MAxwelL [a BIG name ....]
Remember this name he is out of the box
103 not out
118 balls
12 fours
4 sixes

This in his 2nd first class game, a ton in his 3rd dig ?
His innings
38
63 run out
103 not out

204 runs
Ave 102
Dunno how he got out for 38
But no bowler has taken his wicket in this match

Redbacks Shield XI

Harris (needs to bowls, especially to lower order opposition)
Smith (looks ok)
Klinger (bad year - will be better next year)
Ferguson (doesnt play alot of cricket but woul have to be in XI)
Borgas (seems to have shrugged chockers tag)
Cooper (check his shield average for the year)
Manou (best keeper in Aus)
Christian (record quite poor in this form - not worth 900k)
Richardson
Lyon
George

One day and 20/20 team would feature tait and obrien maybe for george or smith. Cooper and Manou out of 20/20 for me, terrible 20/20 batsmen.
Blizzard - mentally fragile (text book redback)

Dont think he is any more. T Pain is a very tidy keeper as is Matthew Wade. and they put runs on the board to. for my mind M.Wade is our best keeper slightly ahead of T Pain. Brad Haddin is a rubbish keeper

Dunno how mentally fragile Blizzard is, he is our leading shield scorer by a bit. 550 runs on the year is pretty decent first year in a new state

I stand corrected Manou has 467 runs on the year aswell, pretty decent but still have the other 2 ahead of him

Manou is lightyears ahead the best... wicket keeper in SA.

Blizzard is blossoming... Going to the Backs, he's gone from a T20 player, filling in occasionally for VIC, to a regular Shield player, and given that chance, he's grabbed it with both hands.

Our best bats:

1. Ferg
2. Max
3. Blizz

SA rolled for under 200 again. Lost last 6/46. Harris made a good 96 but not much else.
Another piss weak effort from the redbacks.
With WA getting 1st innings points we have officially recieved the wooden spoon.

I wonder when its gonna change, is it funny to see that our two best "Home Grown" talents in Tait and Fergs are in the Aus squad at the World Cup at the moment, maybe for just one season we should stop bringing in out of Towners and try some of our younger home grown players. Cant go any worse

Stampy, big statement considering he got dropped from Shield team prior to Christmas. If you had said he was the best 20/20 bat in Australia this year and since coming back into Shield team he has been good, I would agree, but couldn't make a run prior to Christmas in any form of the game.

So the answer is Yes, he failed, 22 is worth nothing at that level, get a start and go on with it, which I think he has failed to do so many times, but as you say, our top run scorer for the year, so his season has been OK. Not sure of his average, but if he has only made 550 runs, in about 18-20 innings, that means average around 30 including not outs. That is not great and I guess shows why we are non competitive.
