This would be the first time in Australian history that the Highest Test score and the highest ODI score were made by the same player. Great stuff Hados.

Surely he will play with a broken toe. Yes it hurts but a pain killer or 2 and he should be fine. Yes i've broken several toes before so don't tell me i wouldn't know.

Yep he should play and if he keeps hitting 6s like he did today he wont need to run much. I think he broke it around the 100 mark from memory and seemed to go ok after that...

He was 100 or 102 when the toe was broken.
Cost Australia the game
WATSON became the runner and that tired him out when he had to bowl

Just Like Kevin PIETERSON he played with a broken part of his body and did
not retire hurt, thats courage.
Instead of knocking this very good player lets acknowledge he has the test + o/d
record scores for his country.

I'll pay that mal. You're a persitent bastard aren't you

In all honesty i do admire your going out on a limb and for the most part i agree with you. Players like Ronchi, Voges and the guy both of us know will be a star in all forms of the game Hilfenhaus. You certainly go into bat for them and stick to your guns. We will never agree on Watson though i guess.

ROD
I do go overboard and praise some cricketers at times.
I like watching the talents in domestic cricket and its great
at this point of time with an aging International team to try
and predict the next batch of stars.
Im gunna be wrong at times, but ive been fortunate enough
to have chosen a few guys that are coming thru.

WATSON no comment all has been said
TAYLOR [NZ] after he got to 25 in his 1st game
RONCHI on some digs in 2005/2006
HILFENHAUS start of the year
DANIEL HARRIS when he was playing district cricket
WHITE when hardly a person picked him
HADDIN when i say he is almost as good as gilly at this point of time
QUINEY after seeing him for 10 minutes
etc etc

Thats a few guys who were nothings not so long ago, but i had a crack [go!]

I praise too many
and dont criticise enough

MARTYN needed to quit....he did
GILES was useless...dropped
HOGGARD worst new ball EG bowler to play in AU [wrong in adelaide  ]
ELLIOTT.....how the **** he still gets a game
LEHMANNS captaincy

I defend champs who are perfroming
HUSSEY/PONTING/MCGRATH/PIETERSON/WARNE etc

Got to give credit to my main antagonist on the cricket debates to ADELAIDE HAWK
He makes some great and at times baffling calls but he has a go, and he
gets more right then wrong.

MATTHEW HAYDEN mals views

Admire the way he has become a great cricketer after being dropped in his career.
Still a good player at mid thirties.
He has copped some adverse critiscm on this site, but he still performs well
He is still a match winner in all forms of cricket
7/10 great career

As for today """""thems the breaks"""""
And if was not dropped a couple of times WATSON would have top scored at $11 for me

Those guys you mention i agree are all very promising. I really like the look of Quiney. Hilfenhaus will be Australia's next long term fast bowling superstar IMHO. I think you agree with this.

HILFENHAUS will be a good ashes bowler the EG conitions will suit.

The other guy I praised from the 1st test was S CLARK[he made me look good phew !!!]
Should we take him to the WI ?

If Lee is out (which he will be) it is a tough call between Clark and Hilfenhaus IMO. I think Clark is a fantastic Test match bowler and he certainly proved me wrong over the past 18 months. I just think he lacks a bit of variety to succeed in the one day game. Hilfenhaus is still raw but very impressive. If we take Hilfenhaus it leaves us with a very young and inexperienced attack. Perhaps Clark could add that bit of experience that is needed with Lee out. Either choice would be more than acceptable.

Your thoughts? Clark or Hilfenhaus or someone else?

Watson tiring himself out while acting as runner for Hayden is absolute rubbish. After reaching his 100 he hit that many 6s that no running was required!

Still gotta run when the other batsman hits the ball.

You'll always find an excuse mal

Fair call with Clark. I wouldn't be fussed either way. Clark probably deserves the chance.

Of course he's unfit. That's why he's always breaking down. It's been about a month now. He's well overdue.
