They've given themselves every opportunity with good recruiting.

I would not be either if it is not a level playing field, with some teams getting more points than others.

What I find interesting is the clubs that have a stable / unchanged line up are all for the points system. Wonder how they would feel if this year they had lost say 6 top line players.

Anyway good luck to Flinders hope all works out

Well then that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Awarding extra points should be a last resort in extreme cases. ie, keeping a club from folding from lack of numbers.

Players come and go, club strengths ebb and flow. Appealing for extra points because you feel you're not going to be in immediate hot contention for a flag is bollocks. It should be a level playing field for all teams, where reward is gained for long term effort in promoting and developing players from within.

I'm not saying this is a money issue either, some clubs can afford to pay recruits big dollars and as far as i'm concerned if that's what they're about than go for it, but at least all clubs with the means can do this without requiring preferrantial treatment.

Personally I like the points system, but once it starts being dicked about by awarding concessions then it becomes a skewed system and ultimately a waste of time.

Agree, but maybe there is a way is you had 3 or more players retire at the same time you could be allowed extra points i think the retiring player should have had to play 100 - 150 games to qualify. Not ask for extra points just beacause you have lots of money to spend.

Can someone clarify this for me, if a player has played say 12 games in mid 2000's for a club in the SAAFL and then returns to that club (has played elsewhere since) is he worth points AND if so does his point reduce when he hits the 25 game total for the club?

I think you will find he is worth full points when he comes back & I doubt whether there would be any reduction, it would be too hard to administer when it gets that complex.

i would have thought that would be a touch pointless you cant gain any knowledge out of trial games, most players have still got cricket, baseball, golf, weddings or just looking after injuries at this time of the year, be our guest though

Would like to correct myself and say Chris Mehaffey has not been sacked.l
Unfortinatly will not coach the team due to his health.
He has stepped down from the coaching job into Football Director.

Heard he was offered $1000 a game, hard to refuse.

I heard from a very good source it is $1200 a game. And flies down on the Saturday morning and flies back Saturday night. Has something to do with his mrs not letting him stay the night down there.
Also heard of numerous plyers leaving including Fraser to Two Wells, Frick to Kapunda, Sleep going to the country for $$.
Could be a very long year for Para Hills.
