Postby Felch » Wed Feb 23, 2011 9:54 pm

Has anyone had any experience with Ebooks of any kind ? Im looking at buying the missus one for her birthday, and i know very little about them. I have heard the Kindle one is pretty good.

Any advice/experiences shared would be appreciated.

Cheers

Felch, does your wife work in an office?

Most office workers I know hate reading stuff on a screen and would rather print it. Which sort of goes against having an ebook.

Personally I've never used one but that's just my 2c worth.

Kindle is the best thing since sliced bread. Jump in now and get one. Avoid all the other brands because they are entry level compared to the Kindle. Bought Mrs Pilot one and she has downloaded 40 books already. Some cost as little as 99cents others cost $9.99. Kindle is the absolute way o go if you travel or read in bed. You don't need glasses either because you can pump up the font size. It roams (free) when you are in a hotspot and you can download stuff. It remembers what page you are on and does everything except making capuccino.

Kindles have a special screen that simulates paper. Completely different to traditional pc monitors, iPads etc.

Can only buy from Amazon in the USA.

Where did you buy yours from Sky Pilot ?

Bought it online - piece a piss. Just google it up. Make SURE you specify "Australian Model" or it will do crazy things.

The US kindles work fine, and don't forget, there are ways around the silly publishing restrictions we have in Australia.

got myself and the missus a Kindle and we both love them, great for reading, something about the screen, it is just like reading a book
sure you have to buy stuff from amazon but you can also convert other formats to your kindle via a program called calibre
fantastic bit of kit, I have not had anything to do with other brands such as kobo etc but I am very happy with the kindle

do your research, if you know someone with one have a play

fantastic for travelling as well, the kindle can hold abour 1500 or so books
and with the dollar the way it is at the moment, good time to buy
