finn wrote:I would say that this newest saafl lower grade proposal has the potential to end up badly especially if they wish to have any consistency with upper grade teams of the same club. perhaps they're looking back at promotion/relegation for c grade sides again? It certainly stuffs up triple headers; I know that there's a full afternoon of games now.

I can understand that this measure makes game programming much simpler but there's generally a reason why teams are in c4 and c6 rather than c2; there's a marked difference in the levels as generally c grade sides of upper division teams have a better spread of talent. I fear that there's going to be massive gulfs between upper and lower clubs which in turn can lead to people dropping off (see ovingham/wingfield etc) and numbers of sides eventually declining.

I'd much rather see the correlation between the division 2 teams and c grade continue with extra teams such as uni filling in spots elsewhere so that byes can be avoided where possible.

I have to admit that the few peoiple from our club i have spoken to like the idea of having both our C and D grade playing at the same ground each week. It helps with support staff etc. It is also a better way to play the D grade too as we are only playing against D grade sides.

Another benefit we saw was that when players get dropped from our B grade through form lack they should still play in a decent comp when they play Cs. For us i guess our C grade are only moving up one grade from where they were supposed to play. There seems to be a few sides in this grade that would have played in or won grade finals last season? I know of ours (we won) and PAOC who won. I think Flinders Park won also? Not sure who else did but maybe Broadview and UNI playted in GFs also? Hard not to have back to back for some team this year. C2 looks as though it will be the toughest C grade comp out of them all!

paoc - c3 premier
gepps cross - second c1
flinders park - c2 premier
uni - second c2
golden grove - c4 -premier
broadview- finished second in c1 but didn't make the grand final
modbury finished second to bottom in div 7 but lost a few games by small margins.

yep, it's going to be a hard grade for all.

I wasnt suggesting it will be, it was more reference to winning a flag last season when the comp was not as difficult. I am not sure about any of the sides that will be in C6, is the UNI side there is that the same side that played C4 last year?

nope, that's the barstards - the scum play c6. the competition will be pretty good at d grade level and most games seemed to be played in good spirits last year that i saw.

i forgot the smiley face on my comment.

Yeah, the games I watched our D grade play last year all looked to be played in the same way.

hello to everyone in c2.we at ovingham have now found us in your company for this season and i am looking forward to the year ahead.hopefully we can make a good account for ourselves and make the division a little interesting.
our numbers have been good without being great so we still have alot of work to do.
alot of the clubs in other divisions are upset in the fact that they likethe triple headers ect so they can watch their a grade teams play.if their is any club that would prefer to play their away game against us at an early time so that they can get back and support their a grade teams(maybe 12.15)just pm me and we will sought something out.
looking forward to the year and wish you all the bst of luck
we stand as one
we fight as one
we win and lose as one

ROUND 1
Adelaide University v St Peter's OC
Rostrevor OC v BYE
Old Ignatians v Payneham NU
Prince Alfred OC v Walkerville
Ovingham v Port District

so round 1 is almost upon us... I tell ya right now everyone at Ovingham is excited at what is going on down at Cane reserve... We will definately be competitive and I probably steal a win or two along the way...
Be interesting to see how it all pans out...

Any predictions out there? PAOC for 3 or 4 in a row?!?

Who is the team to beat?
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

PAOC were certainly a cut above the rest last year. Their C grade would have given a few B grade sides a touch up. Definite runners and plenty off half back. That was last year and things can cghnage over the break but if they are anything like last year ill call it now that they will be in the GF. Easily.
