Your guess is as good as mine. My guess would be ben ried, with tarrant at chb....

One of either Reid or Tarrant I would assume. Every week could be different, coaches analyse their opposition and decide the best defensive match-up so a 'set-and-forget' full back is a little redundant nowadays.

It's now eight years since anyone went back to back and Collingwood haven't done this since 1930.

Nobody is due anything. You either do or you don't and they haven't gone back to back for 81 years. The Pies have earnt pre-season premiership favouritism but it's far from a done thing like some suggest. These blokes will be hunted every week.

Takes a lot of work to get into a finals series, but you can be knocked out of it very quickly thanks to playing one bad quarter, an unlucky bounce, a dubious umpiring decision. You need to always be at your best and hope a little luck also falls your way. Nothing is a given, even if you are the best.

One thing I noticed is how the opposition seem to lift against your team because they were are the reigning premiers. Teams would do nothing for weeks and then pull out a blinder against your mob. Our bogey side Hawthorn was a classic for this. Play some really ordinary football but against us it was like 2008 or worse 1989 all over again.

This is just one reason why going back to back is so difficult.

has collingwood studied & copied central districts game style ?

after watching 'on the couch' the other night & footage & stills they showed on what collingwood does it looks very similar to centrals style imho, which obviously includes that they work & run harder & longer than their opponents
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Hawks didn't play too much ordinary football in 1989 REB :)

You're right about the back to back theory, it's very difficult to do. I've seen the Collingwood situation so many times in football over the years, in fact the most recent was Geelong 2008. History tells us that a season is a very long time in football, so many things can happen. Right now, Collingwood are the best team in the league, but a few injuries to key players and they are right back to the field. Also, we usually see at least one team rise above their expectations each season. As for finals, we all know what they can do to teams. People forget that in 2010, one bad bounce was all that cost St.Kilda the flag. Favourites? Yes. Certainties? Not in your wildest dreams.

yes, i know.

was saying to my mate the other day, it's absolute bliss loving a club when they're on top as we are at the moment, but on the opposite end of the scale, when we are on top, then lose a game, it hurts so much more and is a lot more frustrating to see it happen than if we were a mid-range team or lower.
