Best thrash album of all time

Postby smithy » Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:52 am

Can anything beat Reign in Blood ?

I made the mistake of listening to Reign in Blood before South of Heaven, but Hell Awaits was good too.

Reign in Blood is often recognised as the best and most intense thrash album of all time.

Can anyone recommend anything that comes close ?

Possibly the Stormtroopers of Death album Speak English or Die or Suicidal Tendencies - Suicidal Tendencies.

If you consider Propagandhi to be thrash, then 'Potemkin City Limits' gets my vote.

But otherwise, it's hard to go past the original purveyors of thrash, Discharge and their album 'Why?'.

My personal fave is Master of Puppets.
Ride the Lightning & Kill 'em All get a mention.

I would put Seasons of the Abyss above Reign in Blood IMO.

Here is another one that's pretty swift the entire album but hard to get hold of.
I recommend giving this a go.

Thrash is a bit 90’s; the new metal acts are a bit more palatable.

Bullet for my Valentine is my favourite

I saw Flotsam and Jetsam in there at #35.
Was that the band former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted used to play in?
