Got a mate that works in this dept and he goes all over Aust in his job. He tells me that for Xmas, every adult detainee was given a $20 Telstra phonecard to ring their relatives. Not sure how many adult detainees there are but I reckon there would be plenty, so how much of our money was spent on this? At the time, he was at Weipa and the public phones at the centre were jam packed with Afghans ringing home to tell the relations just how good it is in Australia at Xmas, so jump on board and get over here.

BTW, what do you reckon is the biggest seller in the Camp shop?
It's condoms, and there's not a female in the camp so the bloke keep themselves busy at night.

That's outrageous. $20 Telstra cards (that would have cost the Government a fraction of that). We should go to their country with our aliies and bomb the shit out of it and show them what democracy is....oh wait....

You sir, are outrageous in the extreme.

We shouldn't go because we want to, but because our allies do....

Um, is it suddenly against the law here in Australia to masturbate or be homosexual? or is it that people of anglo saxon heritage dont do either of those filthy things? if you believe that i have news for you that you wont like....

or would you prefer that they did whatever they are doing, without protection, and possibly spread STI's amongst themselves, thereby costing us poor taxpayers even more money when we have to foot the bill for their healthcare?

It is one thing to be against the refugee/asylum seeker policies of our country, and completely another to expect to be able to lock people up with absolutely no contact with their loved ones or the outside world whatsoever.

i reckon people in Yatala also get to phone family at christmas, any issues there?

Tipper, I need you to point out to me in my post where I said 'anything was against the law'. I'm pointing out to those who are interested what the best selling item is in the Weipa Detention Centre store. Is there anything wrong with that?? Please enlighten me if there is. How you compare Yatala with illegal immigrants is another query you may wish to clear up for me.

Point out to me why it is necessary to state that not only are condoms the biggest seller in the shop, but what relevance that has to there being an all male population? why did you find it necessary to point out to "those that may be interested" that little fact? what relevance does it have to them being refugees/asylum seekers?

i copmpared the earlier part of your post, regarding phone calls at christmas, to Yatala prisoners calling people at christmas, as i believe (happy to be corrected) that taxpayers cover the cost of both dont they? yet your little post made no complaints about that. i reckon there are far more people in jails across the country than there are in asylum centres.

yeah mate lawn bowls. I play up here in the North Western Bowling Association. To reveal my club would expose my identity!
I actually should be down in Adelaide right now doing stuff with the Round Robin champs series but have other issues to deal with.
So do you play?
