Any 'Cup' that includes North, Port and South must be rubbish.

I like it but as with many clubs fear its a one year only competition. With 18 teams next year Foxtel wont need it, hell there is a new TV deal being struck this year and Fox might not even be covering the footy in 2012.

It certainly gets the cynics amongst us thinking this. It could be another way of getting the GWS Giants some competition and get them ready for an AFL entry.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Dutchy, why do you or the clubs 'fear' it being only for one year?

It may well be; all the more reason to be in it.

What terrible fate will befall West, Port or North if it's only for one year?

Ditto barto. So what? What difference does that make?

Im just relaying what my club said at this weeks AGM. not saying I agree with it.

I would have liked to have seen Glenelg in it, but would love to see Glenelg win another SANFL flag, thats the difference...

No worries, mate, I didn't read that it was from the AGM.

Nor being in it recently hasn't worked, so perhaps some lateral thinking might have had you competing ;)

Interesting question

I suppport the concept.

I also support every clubs decision as they based it on what was best for their club.

I hope to cover it for my various media outlets

But will the AFL allow community radio broadcasts.

Not interested really at the moment... Meaningless competition in my eyes.
The fact we are playing in it means it lacks all credibility .

I'm happy to watch it and to see how it pans out. I hope the clubs who have entered get something out of it.

I really like the general idea, just glad that Centrals said no. I just feel the chance of it affecting a premiership tilt is too great in the current format which is a shame. Whether it's 1 year or not is irrelevant to whether it's a good concept or not really, would probably be more of an indication whether it was logistically possible or not.

I suppose my question could have been more what I was trying to say looking back at it.

I support the idea of a knockout competition featuring the best teams from around the country. But I don't support the terms that this competition has, plus the fact that the GWS and the NT Thunder (should be the NT premiers) were going to be in it before the top 5 here said no means it's not exactly what the competition is supposed to be about. A compromise, if you will. That's where I was coming from, and that's why I say no.

I voted yes.

I like the concept and accept that my club stayed out essentially for business reasons.

I hope those issues are sorted out and that we compete next year. Good luck to the clubs that will compete.

Aye. I'm torn, would've loved to see Sturt play over here against a WAFL club.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I didn't word that right at all. I meant that if the Foxtel Cup is supposed to be the best teams around the country that aren't in the AFL, then it's ridiculous that those are the 3 South Australian teams (would need to combine North, Port and South's number of 2010 wins to equal Central's).

All I want is an SANFL premiership, don't care about anything else.
