Most of the genuine quality North have lost either weren't on the park last year, or if they were, they were decidedly unfit and playing a foreign style of football.

I don't know what to make of North this year, only time will tell.

I think that most clubs seemingly have lost a fair bit of genuine quality.

I would have thought that Warren was genuine quality and I was also impressed by McKenna, but when you only see a team two or three times a year, you can get wrong impressions of players.

I think South will improve this year and won't finish bottom.

They finished below West last year and I don't see anything in the recruiting to shorten them that much in comparison.

Because we know what WA will do
That is being a competitive team that will get them midfield
NA are an enigma, they can improve out of sight, the improvement in NA could be pronounced this season

Most SANFL fans ( bar Norths ) would agrre that they have seriously underachieved in recent seasons. I agree mal, North could be the big improvers.

North fans wouldn't agree?
If anything they'd be more under that impression than fans who don't see them most weeks!
:?

I agree Wedgie, most of the North fans i know have definitely been of the opinion we have underachieved. unfortunately we still seem to all get sucked into our own hype at the start of each season and think we will go better this time, only to be disappointed later.

No doubting Ben's commitment but injury meant again he could not see the season out. Will be a loss.

Nick (aka Secret Weapon) tried hard, but genuine footballers beat him most times.

Jarman was an unknown quantitiy when he took over post 2003 and took a lesser list IMO to 4th from bottom.

What quality have North lost vs. what we have recruited?

Agreed about Jarman, I thought he was an appalling appointment at the time but he did much better than I expected.
I'd have thought Younie, White and Archard were very good quality, and the only one coming in of similar quality IMO is Backwell.

They all had been quality players but not last year.

White was injured very early in the year, maybe round 3 or 4 and even though he continued to play for another 5 or 6 games he wasn't a contributor at all after the injury. Archard was overweight and had a very, very poor season, he was lucky to hold his place in the side and Younie had lost that yard in pace. he still was a good finisher but clearly it was time for him to retire.

This is no joke - I had a dream last night that Glenelg beat South in the Grand Final. No idea what year but it was played indoors somehere and there was a pocket chock-a-block with Glenelg fans just like Snouts pocket.

South played a shocker too the score late in the game was Glenelg 53, South 9.
