those Oakley boys will help Jamestown no end. I see now wehre the Pies have picked up Bernie Kelly from Whyalla (no points) and Andrew Purchase apparently. I think first year coach Chris Stacey will have a better list than his predecessor so nthey could be the side to watch this year. One of bmw's McCallum boys (there's about 350 of them! lol) just told me they have a big announcement to make too

Port Broughton could be staring at wooden spoon. Ben ODonohue is a non starter according to his brother

Kieron Hicks from Padthaway is said to be teaching in Gladstone this year. Suiting up for Southern Flinders perhaps. Played Ok in a couple of games I saw him play this year. Not going to win a medal but honest type player. Any other teachers/bankers/police etc rolled into the district. In the old days a bit of luck getting 1 or 2 of these types could really cap things off.

I just posted an enquiry on Naracoorte Kowrie league page looking for info on Kieron Hicks so will see what turns up. Heard in pub this arvo a Pirie-based copper building a house in Wirrabara but I don't know if he plays footy or lawn bowls!

I think Toby Oakley has been playing in WA somewhere and making a big quid but I don't know what Travis has been doing since he parted company with league footy a few years ago so will be interesting to see how they go in Northern Areas after all this time.

Trav also moved across to WA after his time at the Eagles in SANFL. He was a quality footballer.

Yes, his first league game for the Eagles vs North was a ripper but he was just a bit short to be a key position player in the SANFL. Good bloke and great kick.

I hear there are some big changes at Crystal Brook. Three or four players out and perhaps one new one in. And a suggestion from Jamestown (cricketer talk) that relations between the NAFA Maggies and the North Eastern Rams is pretty stretched. Anyone else heard this?

The key player in brett woodards is still there, should be enough to carry them to another flag regardless of who coaches them

We can keep speculating all we like guys, many clubs would like his services, but only one will get ink on paper. Having said all that, Eudunda would be closer to home for him.

It sounds like he has been very busy shopping himself around in the off season. Definitely no post christmas sales with this lad.

A source very close to him (probably one of you!!) said he is playing at South Flinders but did think about have other options. Source said he wasnt real happy with his form and still "owed" South Flinders. Did not get a vote in the medal he said which surprised me.

Had lunch in Orroroo yesterday and things are pretty quiet over there. They will really notice the loss of JJ Nicholas to Kapunda and Tim Byerlee to Port Bulldogs in Pirie
