Given most of the stuff I've heard about half of the div 1 clubs in the last couple of days, mass walkouts, turfed coaches, player unrests (and that's not the half of it) I'm pencilling in Gaza for the flag

I'm still trying to figure out whether they're being smart or sneaky ;) or smart AND sneaky ;)

Gaza sure have some nice recruits and look like they should be right up there at this early stage.

Just looked through the clearances/pending clearances and Gaza would surely have to be above the points system

Only if they're all A graders which a few posters from their original clubs have questioned.

Only if you assume the following:

1) They played majority A grade in 2010

and

2) They will play A grade for Gaza

Good news for Broadview then, the guy is a superstar!

Muster and O'Riley have left broadview, will those losses be felt or are they just depth players?

Muster will be missed, hard as nails and solid performer. But i feel a couple of the younger guys are in his mould so might be a good opportunity for them to step up. O'riley only played a handful of games last year, and most of the were B grade, from memory had a lot of trouble with knee injuries.

Fair enough shirtfront i didnt know much about o'riley but yeah muster can play

I think it's about time we got off the talk of whether clubs are over the points limit. I'm sure there is at least one person at each club that can count and add up to 30 and will be able to work out if they are over or not. I think we need to let these clubs worry about how their side will line up each week in order to stay under the points. I'm sure the coaching staff of each club are well aware of what they're able to do.
I'm sure the broadies posters on here would also agree that this topic is getting a bit annoying now.

BOP it seems Gaza have picked up a number of younger guys 18-22..... particularly from GG! Knowing a few of the lads they arent A graders yet handy young talent and you never know with their development.
IMO they have done this to:
1. add to the depth of the club
2. see what these blokes are capable of and see if they are future A graders.

For me this does raise an issue 'points related sorry ;) ' These larger Div 1 clubs can poach talent (young senior/junior players) from the lower div clubs and then by the time they are ready for A grade football they are worth 0.

Just an observation and do posters see this as becoming a trend?

Well if you want to come up with something else that's relevant to the competition, interesting and topical - feel free and I'm sure we'll all talk about it.

If everyone keeps posting about it, then it's obviously what they want to talk about which is why this is called a "forum"

Sorry FC arent Div 1 A Graders ;)

Tony Scott as well as few others.

Also Bausty would only play as a tagger IMO, fit and strong but skills let him down and decision making

Apparently dylan olive hasnt been let go by TTG as he has a year on his contract and Kev is holding strong? same with one of the Williams?

Yes true. So what's he worth to Gaza if he plays A grade? 2 points?

Yep, but add that 2 points to the all the other 2 pointers (and even any 3 pointers from other div 1 or country leagues they end up picking up)and the left over 1 pointers from last year and they could struggle to keep within their points.

Yes this will become THE biggest trend across all levels of football, give a kid 50 or 100 bucks to come over before they even reach seniors and you can speed up the process even more meaning they are 0 points from the start

Well, then the points system has failed already. One of the reasons the points system was introduced was to stop the poaching of players from the same or equivalent leagues. Now, if teams and players are prepared to upgrade from lower divisions, i can't see how that will ever stop. It has been happening for years, maybe not in the same numbers as this year, but thats due to the points system coming in. It seems it will be a constant issue. As far as your own clubs, i guess its up to the Admin, Coaches and Captains to make sure that the younger group are willing to stick fat with the club through good and bad periods.

Looking at the clearences to Gaza, there are a few ex Gaza players heading back there. Maybe BOP can answer, but there were constant rumours regarding Mead and his player relationship, any link?
